is hiring for an Associate Cataloger to contribute to our Ingram Library Services (ILS) team in Roseburg, OR.

The Associate Cataloger performs a variety of bibliographic duties in an online environment including bibliographic records upgrades in all formats. The Associate Cataloger will perform bibliographic edits based on national standards, Ingram standards, and customer requirements. They will also process upgrades on CIP records and OCLC member copy to full level standards; create cataloging records for variant editions and may assign LC and Dewey classification numbers. May also provide original cataloging. Functions as part of a team of professionals and paraprofessionals to ensure that outgoing materials meet company standards in terms of quality, timeliness, and quantity.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or combination of relevant course work and year-for year directly related experience
  • 2 years copy cataloging experience at the paraprofessional level in a library/library vendor setting or 2 years’ experience as a Library Assistant
  • 1 year experience using OCLC and an integrated library system, for example Polaris, III, ExLibris, SirsiDynix

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in an operations environment
  • Knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, LC or Dewey classification schedules, and MARC21/OCLC formats
  • Knowledge of integrated library catalog systems for example SirsiDynix, Polaris, III or ExLibris

Key Responsibilities:

  • Upgrades MARC records to full-level encoding status for all formats in accordance with national cataloging standards, MARC21 input standards and local requirements.
  • Leads projects with one or more Assistant Catalogers/Library Technicians
  • May serve as cataloging lead for small to mid-range accounts
  • Analyzes issues and resolve problems with titles, orders, and workflow
  • Assists Library Assistants and Library Technicians with issues of quality and accuracy
  • Catalogs materials in all formats with Cataloger review
  • Stays informed of changes to bibliographic standards and policies, including those specific to Ingram’s proprietary databases.
  • Meets production and quality goals and adheres to deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
