ROLE SUMMARY

Assists the Nurse Manager with the planning for and supervision of patient care areas; trains employees and monitors/evaluates staff performance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supports and fosters personalized patient care, incorporating the cultural, ethnic, religious and age specific needs of the patient.

2. Assists Nurse Manager in determining the unit/department needs for adequate facilities, equipment and supplies that best support the performance of nursing personnel.

3. Fosters effective communication. Understands the organizational chart of Nursing Services and hospital leadership; promotes conversation at the appropriate level.

4. Develops staff education programs with a focus on performance improvement.

5. Observes and provides feedback on staff performance; participates in performance appraisal and coaching sessions.

6. Participates in writing, reviewing, implementing and teaching new or established equipment, techniques, policies, and procedures or protocols.

7. Reviews documentation for accuracy, completeness and timeliness.

8. Participates in designated and assigned committees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education: Associate's degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience: Three years of relevant healthcare experience required.

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Registered Nurse licensure required. American Heart Association BLS required. ACLS & PALS certification within six months of hire required.
