Assistant Branch Manager - Fort Lauderdale

Job Description

The Assistant Manager reports directly to the Area Manager and is responsible for ensuring the quality and efficiency of STS’s services through the management of equipment and employees. Key responsibilities include overseeing the assignment and dispatch of crews and equipment, implementing personnel decisions, establishing and developing relationships with customers, monitoring and purchasing inventory, and ensuring safe work practices.

Traffic Control Management and Logistics

- Dispatch employees to assigned jobs with the appropriate equipment

- Schedule new jobs by assigning dates, times, and resources

- Ensure quality standards by spot-checking crews and traffic control devices on projects

Personnel Management

- Monitor, audit and submit employee hours to payroll

- Train employees to develop new skills directly related to their work

- Identify high potentials for promotions and internal opportunities

- Coach employees to achieve goals and expectations

- Monitor the employee life cycle, including hiring, disciplining, rewarding, and terminating employees

Operational Oversight

- Prepare work orders and send to billing team for invoice creation

- Prioritize safe work practices by distributing personal protective equipment (PPE), working safely at all times, and verbally reinforcing safety standards

- Engage directly with customers (via phone calls, email, luncheons, meetings, and on jobsites) to build relationships and monitor customer satisfaction

- Bid and negotiate pricing for small projects as needed

Equipment Management

- Monitor current inventory and estimate future demand

- Submit equipment orders at appropriate times

Job Specifications

- 3-5 years of experience managing multiple employees and projects

- Ability to manage personnel resources

- Skill in coordinating projects and equipment

- Proficiency in oral and written communication

- Skill in prioritizing and appropriately delegating tasks

- Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook

- Knowledge of construction management preferred

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, motor vehicle report, and criminal background check (7 years)

- Experience in the traffic control industry preferred

- High proficiency in the English Language required, proficiency in Spanish desired but not required

- Construction management or business degree preferred

Work Context

Work will be performed within office and field environments and requires 40+ hours during the week. The work schedule varies based on projects. Involves travel to job sites around the Fort Lauderdale area to monitor progress and supervise teams; involves working near high-speed traffic and large construction equipment on occasion. The applicant should have the necessary motor control skills to complete daily tasks.
