The Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott in Bolingbrook is currently seeking a friendly, service-oriented and highly motivated Assistant General Manager/Operations Manager. Our ideal candidate should exude a passion for the the hospitality industry that will cultivate an exceptional guest experience. The successful candidate must be extremely customer service driven, have excellent communication skills, possess good work ethics and able to make sound decisions. They must have a strong "people person" attitude, problem-solving skills, and must be able to maintain a professional demeanor when under pressure. Sets a strong example to other associates to follow through exemplary guest service and performance. The Assistant General Manager/Operations Manager will also support the General Manager with daily operational functions, as well as oversee the property in the absence of the General Manager. Uses leadership skills to drive revenue, maximize profit, and achieve quality. This position is a hands on position.

Job Duties/Functions:

  • Maintain/increase standards of quality guest service and satisfaction while maximizing profitability and managing expenses.
  • Assist in effectively training, coaching, counseling, and commending associates fairly and consistently to ensure development and improve performance.
  • Approach all encounters with guest and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Act as an ambassador to the the hotel and ensure that guests are receiving an unparalleled guest experience.
  • Respond and resolve guest requests, complaints, and Mr. Marriott Issues in a courteous and timely manner while demonstrating poise and good judgement.
  • Assist with producing accurate, timely financial reports for GM, management company and partners.
  • Assist with conducting associate huddles.
  • Participate in weekly manager's meetings.
  • Understands and applies accounting principles (e.g., balancing daily reports, cash deposits, credit cards, GL coding, etc.)
  • Assist with accounts payable by coding/submitting invoices to the management company after GM approval.
  • Participate in weekly room inspection program.
  • Responsible for ongoing training and development of hotel associates and maintain all necessary training records.
  • Respond to guest comments from GSS, social media, and third party sites in a professional manner.
  • Maximizes GSS scores by working with the General Manager to identify potential obstacles to exemplary service.
  • Communicates GSS results and needs that have been identified from the survey results to the hotel team.
  • Motivates staff by setting goals, providing ongoing feedback, and rewarding/recognizing employees.
  • Manages lost and found to ensure items are handled, logged, and sent back properly.
  • Along with department managers, and GM, will assist in conducting monthly department meetings.
  • Responsible for managing the PM/DC process/calendar to ensure PM/DC are done on a timely basis.
  • Manage maintenance tickets to ensure they are being completed, properly documented, and look for trends.
  • Assist with ordering supplies for front office, housekeeping and maintenance to ensure proper levels of inventory while keeping it in line with budget and financials.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable ensuring accounts on Aging Report do not go more than 30 days.
  • Review room availability status, room blockage, VIP Blocking, and special requests on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all associates adhere to dress code and safety standards
  • Must be available to work/cover any shift.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Previous hotel experience required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. 2-4 year college degree preferred but not necessary.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Fosse or Marriott experience is a plus.
  • Must speak fluent local language. Additional language skills a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be extremely detailed and organized.
