Shooting Sports Education Center

Job Summary


Responsible for providing leadership, oversight and day-to-day management of programs and operations of the Shooting Sports Education Center. This position will develop and implement firearms and archery programming, instruction, and competition for a wide range of skill levels to include first time to advanced.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and supervise the full-time head archery coach, 20-25 student employees and 2 graduate assistants
  • Review and enforce policies and procedures
  • Provide instruction/coaching in archery and/or firearms as needed
  • Serve on university and departmental work team and committees
  • Lead, direct, supervise and evaluate firearms and archery programming, instruction, and special events and develop strategies that drive growth, continuous improvement, safety, participant satisfaction and achieve goals
  • Provide leadership as camp director for all winter and summer camp programs to include, curriculum development, budgeting, marketing, execution, negotiating contracts with external coaches, and assessment of camps as well as administer external camp contracts and serve as their campus liaison
  • Serve as rotating Range Master On Duty to include occasional nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Manage operations for the firearms range and archery center to include related equipment to create a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment
  • Maintain and utilize risk management best practices while maintaining industry standards for programming and operational procedures
  • Assist in managing retail operations to include membership and point-of-sale software
  • Enhance and influence marketing efforts for all SSEC programs and services in various formats
  • Foster campus and community partnerships in support of programming and events including but not limited to GS Dept. of Health Sciences and Kinesiology, Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks & Recreation, Statesboro High School Rifle team, GS Public Safety, USA Archery, Georgia Archery Association, Georgia Bowhunters Archery Association, Bulloch County 4-H, GAPPS, GISA, NFAA, S3DA, NASP, USCCA, CMP, GS Rifle, USA Shooting, etc.

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in recreation, management, or a related field

Required Experience

  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications


Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • USA Archery Level 3-NTS coach certification
  • USA Archery Certified Judge
  • USCCA Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals Instructor or Training Counselor
  • USCCA Women's Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals
  • NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, Pistol or Rifle Certified Instructor or Training Counselor
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified instructor

Preferred Educational Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

Preferred Experience

  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience
  • Experience competing or instructing in the shooting sports
  • Experience in firearms range operations to include lead management
  • Experience in retail management
  • Experience hosting large-scale, successful archery tournaments
  • Experience working in an educational setting

Proposed Salary


$49,400 - $56,600

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
