Job Responsibilities

· Supports the Mission, Values, and Vision of Simpson

· Through attitude and behavior demonstrates and promotes the standards of Diamond Service to both internal and external customers.

QAPI Regulations:

· Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts of your organization. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts. Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization. Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.

· Is knowledgeable of resident’s rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.

· Maintains confidentiality of all information including resident, employee, operations data and health information.

· Cooperates and works together with all co-workers.

· Completes requirements for in-service training, career development, infection control, annual PPD, and licensure (as required).

· Understands and adheres to all Simpson policies and procedures.

· Assists in providing quality food and an enjoyable dining experience for residents, guests, and staff, thus eliminating food as an issue for Administration.

· Assist with the hiring, orienting, training, and evaluating of PRN personnel in accordance with company policies with the assistance of IL Operations Manager. Promotes the professional growth and development of staff.

· Responsible for printing Sodexo Huddle sheets, and conducting show time before each meal for all service staff to ensure that all departmental standards are being upheld.

· Circulates in all dining rooms during meal periods to field resident/guest comments pertaining to service and food quality. Immediately attempts to correct problems in these areas as needed.

· Conducts and documents weekly and monthly meetings with all service personnel.

· Ensures the competency of the position is maintained by participating in training programs as required.

· Supervises the scheduling of all special functions and ensures that the functions are serviced correctly to include staffing, small wares, and linens.

· Coordinates and follows through with all resident and community special functions and monotony breakers.

· Implements programs to improve service to residents, guests, and staff, including the decorating of the dining room for holidays and special events, to promote and enhance a positive dining experience. Ensures that the appearance of the dining areas is consistently neat and clean, including catering rooms.

· Ensures inventory of all table top items and uniforms are done Quarterly, and needs are communicated to IL Operations Manager.

· Greets and scans resident meal tags prior to seating residents/guests in the dining room and ensures that all charges are accurate. Provides menus when appropriate.

· Provides direction and support to the wait staff to ensure proper service.

· Oversees opening and closing tasks of servers, and documents assignments accordingly. Responsible for the supervision of opening and closing of dining areas. Ensuring Ensures the set up and cleanliness of all beverage equipment, as well as stocking of all items necessary for service.

· all staff uses effective time management.

· Responsible for completion of IL daily dining paperwork, monthly calendars, and quarterly newsletter.

· Completes the PRN IL server schedule. Ensures coverage in the event of a call-out.

· Ensures proper food handling, storage, labeling and date procedures are followed

· Assists with EOM duties as assigned including weekly invoices and meal counts

· Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • PC Skills: Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Experience: 2+ years as a supervisor in a high-volume food service setting
  • Licensing or Certification: N/A
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Preferred:

  • Education: Post-secondary training via college or technical training institute.
  • PC Skills: POS Register System, basic MS Outlook, or other networked e-mail system.
  • Experience: 2+ years as a FOH manager in a healthcare, hospitality, or retirement community setting.
  • Licensing or Certification: ServSafe and Food Handlers certifications.
