What does an Assistant Controller do?
Responsible for regulatory and tax filing for the Bank Holding company and subsidiaries. Responsible for researching, interpreting, and applying new accounting pronouncements. Responsible for assisting the Controller in ensuring timely and proper regulatory reporting for financial, operational, and tax results; communicating and interfacing with other departments and management personnel; providing periodic management reports on a timely basis.
What is needed to be successful in this role?

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; a master's degree, or related degree;
  • CPA or other related credential required;
  • Specialized bank finance education and training.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in accounting, finance, bank finance or similar.
  • Proficiency with a PC and associated programs (such as Microsoft Office)
  • Knowledge of current bank regulations and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

What does a successful first year in this position look like?_*

  • Proactively review regulatory guidance to ensure the organization is compliant and efficiently completing all filing requirements such as; Call Report, FRY-9 and other.
  • Research and provide technical accounting guidance in accordance with U.S. GAAP; proactively analyze emerging accounting pronouncements for implications to the global CNC organization.
  • Taking a lead role in coordinating the Company’s external audit and internal control testing performed by Internal Audit; collaborate with business line leaders and others in updating the company’s internal control framework and documentation.
  • Serves as a liaison to internal and external auditors and regulators, including responding to requests for information and documentation, remediating audit findings, and ensuring the internal control structure and audit experience within the department and company is optimized for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for updating and creating accounting policies and procedures required by either technical accounting, business or internal control changes.
