JOB OVERVIEW:

The Application Technician performs chemical and fertilizer applications on golf course properties. The application technician is responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with all product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). This position is also responsible for maintaining product inventories and compiling preliminary reports of product usage for the golf course agronomist. In addition, the Application Technician must also be able to perform all the requirements of the Lead Greenskeeper, Equipment Operator and Greenskeeper positions and assist the Irrigation Technician as assigned and directed by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs routine safety and operation inspections and checks on all application equipment.
  • Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers.
  • Read label and follow all instructions of each product prior to use including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with the calibration, mixing and loading of application product under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Apply approved product per direction of supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license or CDL, meet the requirements of driver insurability as established by the Employer’s insurance carrier and must immediately report any change in status of the license to the Employer.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and/or background check per current employment policy.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in golf course maintenance or pest control application is required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • Must have completed training requirements as demanded by the state and federal governments, including those required by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standards.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High degree of good common sense and math skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to follow instructions.
  • Working knowledge of safe and efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment to perform assigned duties.
  • Resident, member and guest sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • All management information shall be kept in confidence.
  • Ability to learn to use and operate regularly a computer.
  • Ability to read and comprehend all product labels.
  • Ability to physically lift and handle packaged plant protectant and fertilizer products commonly used for turf grass maintenance.
  • Must have neat and pleasant overall appearance and maintain good sanitary and personal hygiene practices during and following exposure to any product.
