ANIMAL CARETAKER - Small Animals

Spring Farm CARES is a non-profit Animal and Nature Sanctuary. Our small animal facility is home to cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, and turtles. Most of the animals came to us because they have no other place to go; many of them are elderly or have special needs. Once these animals come to our sanctuary they are guaranteed a place for life.

Our job - actually our mission and yours, if you work with us – is to care for these animals, their physical and emotional well-being, to enrich their lives, and provide them with a safe, kind, and loving forever home.

Here is a partial list of the kinds of activities that are part of this job:

Job Description:

• Provide daily food and water for the small animals
• Clean litter boxes, cat rooms, and other small animal enclosures
• Maintain facility – laundry, dishes, and general cleaning
• Groom animals and be familiar with individual behavior patterns to be able to recognize health issues
• Provide enrichment
• Interact with volunteers and educational groups, including children
• Snow removal in winter
• Job requires a fair amount of cleaning throughout the work day

Requirements:

• Compassionate, responsible, and hardworking
• Good rapport with and caring attitude toward animals
• Must be able to correctly follow oral and written instructions
• Must work well independently as well as a member of a team
• Must be physically able to perform heavy cleaning work throughout the day
• Job requires work on one or both weekend days and on holidays (2 days off/week)
• Valid NY State driver’s license

You have 2 options how to apply:

• You come to Spring Farm CARES, 3364 State Route 12 (south), Clinton, NY 13323 (4 miles south of New Hartford and 7 miles north of Waterville). Go to large, blue building and fill in the “Application for Employment”. We are open 7days/week.
• You send us an e-mail to request the Spring Farm CARES Application. We will send it to you as an attachment for you to print. Once you have filled in the Application, you may scan it and return it as an e-mail attachment or bring the paperwork to Spring Farm CARES.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 - $15.75 per hour
