Job Summary
The Ambulatory Practice Administrator III will be responsible for:
  • Managing daily operational efficiency, throughput and coverage for assigned clinical areas by organizing work and work methods to ensure efficient use of staff time, equipment and space.
  • Leading efforts to assess and achieve ongoing improvements in clinical operations, including patient/family and provider experiences, care delivery efficiencies, scheduling, staffing, space utilization, documentation/informational systems, communication, clinical usage and insurance company interactions. Directing and developing staff to look at service delivery workflows and processes, and identifying opportunities for improvement of these outcome metrics. Facilitating the accomplishment of such qualify improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborating with Human Resources, Department Administrator and physician/nurse leaders, managing human resources effectively through efficient staffing, coaching and development of staff, and setting and maintaining high work standards. Delegating authority, responsibility and work appropriately among subordinates or subordinate work units.
  • Preparing and monitoring the department budgets together with physician/nurse leaders. Monitoring operational and financial targets and variations in line with budget expectations.
  • Collaborating with Hospital Compliance, physician and nurse leaders to manager compliance with government regulations and third party payor agreements.
  • Acting as administrative liaison between the department and hospital departments, which may include ISD, Facilities, Marketing, outside vendors and contractors. Serving as the principle liaison to any other hospital on joint matters and shared programs. Serving on hospital task forces and committees, as appropriate.
  • Interacting routinely with the corresponding Program Chiefs, Hospital Department Administrators, Nursing leadership, respective Program physicians/referring physicians and their offices.
  • Participating and providing administrative support to Chiefs and nurse leaders in the development and ongoing improvement of disease-specific clinical outcome metrics.
  • Collaborating with Hospital personnel and Departmental faculty to plan and implement the strategic vision for the clinical components of the department’s mission.
To qualify, you must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience, including at least three years of supervisory or management experience. Additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Hospital/healthcare experience preferred.
  • Work requires the knowledge and skills necessary to solve complex problems in the areas of clinical/research operations, business planning, financial management, marketing, personnel and information systems management.
  • Work requires the ability to effectively manage the employees within assigned unit/department and to influence and negotiate with peer level managers on issues and programs that impact assigned unit/department. Work requires effectively dealing with conflicting views or issues and mediating fair and workable solutions.
Work Location/Schedule: Monday – Friday, 5 days/week onsite.
