Job Description
The Airport Technology Specialist serves in a role typical of desktop support, but is assigned exclusively for the support of employees located at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. The position is responsible for analyzing requirements, implementing solutions, and supporting software, computers, laptops, tablets, and other technologies in use at the Airport. Strong customer service, communication skills, technical experience, and professional judgment are required to be successful in this position.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Support and maintain all aspects of the Airport’s hardware and software while adhering to IT requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Be proactive and show initiative. Seek to resolve known or potential issues before they’re reported.
  • Consult with customers, analyze requirements, determine specifications, and design solutions to meet requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot hardware and software issues to provide root cause analysis and issue resolution.
  • Perform software installations and upgrades, test changes, maintain system backups, and interface with vendors and/or 3rd-party solution providers as needed.
  • Research current and emerging technology and make recommendations as it relates to opportunities to add or improve features, functionality, capabilities, and efficiencies.
  • Research, plan, and implement new technology solutions as approved and directed.
  • Create, update, and maintain documentation and inventory records.
  • Coordinate maintenance and support with outside vendors and the IT department as appropriate or necessary.
  • Participate in an after-hours on call rotation to address time-sensitive issues.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and use reference and technical manuals.
  • Ability to understand and use tools for repairing technology hardware.
  • Knowledge of industry standard methods of troubleshooting and repairing desktop and mobile computers and peripherals.
  • Knowledge of industry standard office productivity applications and computer operating systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a customer service driven organization.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work as a team.


Licenses/Certification

Required Qualifications
Position requires 2 or more years of documented, full-time work experience with troubleshooting and repairing technology-related issues.
Valid Texas Driver’s License required. Must be able to respond to after-hours issues and work extended hours when necessary.
Due to the level of access to potentially sensitive information, successful completion of a criminal background check is required. Background check must confirm eligibility for Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) system access and CJIS eligibility must be maintained for the duration of employment.
