Aircraft Operations Department

Red 6 is a quickly growing tech development company that specializes in the application of augmented reality technology in dynamic airborne environments. It is led by highly experienced and regarded combat veterans and operates high performance aircraft as vehicular tech development and demonstration platforms on a daily basis. The company operates at a fast pace and is built around a strong team-oriented approach to its personnel, and models itself after an active fighter squadron in its approach to daily operations.

In our efforts to develop our augmented reality solution, Red 6 operates two experimental Berkut aircraft out of Santa Monica Municipal Airport. These aircraft are flown several times per week to assist in technology testing, and thus require consistent maintenance and monitoring.

The Role

As a Red 6 an Aircraft Maintenance and Ground Support Technician, you will play a critical role in the preflight preparation, dispatching, and recovery of our aircraft. You will also participate in preflight briefing activities, crew readiness, and safety procedures. You will contribute to our evolving maintenance program and assist in the hands-on service of our aircraft and equipment. At times, you’ll participate in administrative activities and support our tech team’s test and readiness needs.

Qualifications

  • A&P certificate holder or Student enrolled and active in A&P training program.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with tools and shop equipment.
  • Ability to understand and execute published procedures.
  • General aviation line service - general knowledge of aircraft handling, staging, fueling, and preflight preparations.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic environments, respond to challenges, and learn new skills quickly.
  • High school graduate with some college and/or vocational training experience.
  • Qualified candidate must have the ability to obtain a security clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Associate degree or active/enrolled college student.
  • Avionics and electrical system engineering/installation/service.
  • Private pilot certificate.
  • Active or prior military/service experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office/Google Suite applications.
  • Strong motivation to pursue personal hobbies and creative interests.
  • Homebuilt aircraft construction/operation and/or have built maintained personal vehicles (cars, motorcycles, boats, RC, etc.).
