Luzerne County Area Agency on Aging is looking to hire someone who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and has the desire to provide valuable services to the elderly population of Luzerne and Wyoming County. If this is you, come and work for us!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a paraprofessional position, and the employee is responsible for completing any request for assistance forms for consumers who come into the AAA as walk-ins. They will also need to conduct home visits in the community to those consumers who require assistance in gathering financial documentation or other application information. This employee will need to maintain an on-going-proficiency in the use of the statewide Department of Aging data bases known as Well-Sky and PIA.

Other duties include but not limited to fielding all in-coming telephone calls from consumers who have questions about Aging Programs and contacting the consumers by telephone to assist in the screening of referrals for Assessment and diverting to the appropriate department.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as an Aging Case Aide 1; or
  • Two years of public contact work, including one year in a human services program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Schuylkill, Sullivan or Wyoming counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
