Position Summary


Direct and manage the design, development and support of multiple teams and/or their supporting processes to meet customer expectations. Lead strategic direction and function as a liaison across the Technology organization and business partners. Essential Job Functions

  • Lead and develop a team of Scrum Masters and help to instill a culture of agility within their team
  • Manage the hiring, development, and support of a team of Scrum Masters, including FTEs as well as contract resources
  • Define overall process and methodology to be followed by Scrum Masters for the development and delivery of software
  • Ensure Scrum Masters schedule and facilitate regular ceremonies, including daily scrum, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Define and monitor required team and organizational level metrics to be tracked
  • Establish and maintain Program Dashboard, using the information reported to coach Agile teams on ways to improve their Agile practices and delivery
  • Develop a culture of agility within the Scrum Master community through informative monthly meetings and facilitation of Agile coaching sessions
  • Partner with Engineering Managers, Product Managers and Portfolio Ops through regular touch points and participation in POD leadership activities to work through solving organizational challenges and to ensure they are aware of processes and best practices within the team
  • Administer all facets of personnel administration including hiring, performance management, resource allocation and associate development
  • Ensure teams adhere to all Technology standards and procedures, including regulatory compliance
  • Drive continuous organizational improvements
  • Maintain regular communications to team members regarding The Kroger Co. and Technology

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business or technology related program
  • 6+ years of experience as a scrum master with knowledge of administrative management functions
  • 6+ years of experience in a software development organization
  • Certified scrum trainer
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience
  • Knowledge and practical experience of the Lean methodology, principles and tools
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and to all levels within the organization

Desired Previous Experience/Education

  • Master's Degree in IT or related equivalent work experience in an information technology position
