Community Support Specialists within our Day Services division provide support services to individuals with disabilities that participate in Supported Employment and Community Based Day Services programs. Our day programs support disabled adults to become more independent in their daily lives, and in becoming active, contributing members of their community. As a Community Specialist, you will train and support adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities during in-person and virtual skill building activities within the program site, at job and volunteer locations, and on community outings.

  • You will develop and maintain supportive working relationships with program members.
  • You will facilitate group, small group and individual instruction geared towards skill acquisition and enhancing independence.
  • You will support individuals to become active members of their community through volunteer, leisure, and employment opportunities.
  • You will ensure the rights and dignity of all persons served are always upheld.
  • You will transport program members to and from job sites, residences and community activities.
  • You will attend staff meetings, trainings and other meetings to develop skills and share successes.
  • You will assist with personal care to persons served as needs indicate.

  • You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deliver services in person and through virtual platforms.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, Windows and iOS operating systems and the Zoom video conferencing platform.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • 2-3 years in a related field preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass criminal background checks.
  • CPR, First Aid, Safety Care Certification preferred (otherwise, training will be provided)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, sit, reach, and climb stairs.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or the use of two-person lift.
