The primary responsibility of this position is to work with patients in a one-on-one approach to deliver the care and attention each patient desires to achieve the best outcomes, focusing on the patient’s well-being as well as their treatment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Screens, examines, and evaluates patients, including history, systems review, and applications of appropriate tests and measures.
  • Designs the session to help the patient's specific complaints or needs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean treatment room and adhering to Clean Needle Technique protocols. Comply with procedures, rules regulations and law.
  • Administer acupuncture treatment using sterile, single use needles at specified locations to address patient's complaints.
  • Evaluate effects of treatment by observing, noting and evaluating patient's progress, modifying if necessary. Document patient's treatments.
  • Provide a recommended course of treatment.
  • Develops appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and implements accordingly.
  • Familiar with using electronic health record.
  • Maintains and nurtures a positive attitude toward patients and treatment programs.
  • Maintains HIPAA and protects LSM by keeping patient records confidential.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by participating in continuing education programs such as workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional requirements.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation, including S.O.A.P. notes, detailing the patient’s response to treatment.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Active Acupuncture license for the State of Wisconsin is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, portraying a high degree of professionalism
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and accept and implement change
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and make decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines under general supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to maintain confidential information

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • CPR and AED certifications preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing and sitting
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech in communication with patients and staff
  • Frequent use of vision, both near and far, to judge distances, spatial relationships, and identifying and distinguishing colors
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Frequent walking, reaching, gripping, and use of keyboards for data entry
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of foot/leg and hand/arm
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs
  • Occasional driving
