The Action Sports Brand Manager is responsible for managing and executing Woodward's Sports Leadership strategy through collaboration with teams across the Woodward portfolio at Woodward Camps, Woodward Mountain Centers, and Woodward Urban Centers. The Action Sports Brand Manager will be based in Utah preferred, with oppurtunity to be hybrid between Park City and Redstone office and remote locally.
As a member of the Woodward Global Sports Marketing Team, reporting directly to the Director of Sports Marketing, the Action Sports Brand Manager will cultivate the Woodward brand and elevate its credibility within the sport industries of Skateboarding, BMX, Scooter, Roller Skate and Parkour by managing and executing brand accretive Athlete and Sport Organizational partnerships across all Woodward location, as well as offsite outreach efforts at action sports industry events. This role is a key member of the Woodward Global Sports Marketing Team and collaborates with location teams at Woodward PA, Woodward West, Woodward Tahoe, Woodward Park City, and future Woodward locations to come.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Action Sports Brand Manager will foster and manage industry relationships with athletes, sport organization partners, brands, and offsite events to ensure Woodward embodies every sport's culture.
  • Closely monitor sport industry trends and competitive environment to provide insights and data to the Woodward Global Marketing and Sales team, while ensuring Woodward's athlete program, partnerships, and events position Woodward as a leader in each Sport.
  • Increase the participation and engagement of females in Action Sports by executing female action sports athlete initiative(s) within the parameters of Woodward's Women in Action Sports strategy.
Athlete Program (Ambassadors and Influencers)
  • Manage and execute Woodward wide Signature Athlete Experiences and Sport Advisors in collaboration with team members across the Woodward portfolio.
  • Identify and build relationships with athletes through Woodward training opportunities, and athlete hospitality programs across all Woodward locations.
  • Procure, manage, and coordinate multi-location athlete (VIPs) appearances across all Woodward Locations - announcements of Athlete appearances that align with and marketing timelines, integration into location programming through athlete activations, appearance logistics and travel, and coordination of content plans.
  • Provides input and assists in the development of Athlete marketing budgets and plans in partnership with Sports Marketing Director and location Sport leads.
  • Collaborate with all departments across the Woodward portfolio to create the Woodward pipeline that develops youth athletes into future athletes, VIPs, and influencers.
Facilities & Programming
  • Collaborate with Global Development team, Woodward Athletes, and location teams to compile relevant feedback, and industry trends to support the development and design of current and future Innovative Environments across all Woodward locations.
  • Be knowledgeable on the past and current Action Sports park and facility trends to help determine future facility needs to constantly support sport progression for all ability levels.
  • Collaborates with location Programming teams and Woodward Athletes to continually develop Woodward Programming and Sport Curriculum that is accessible to all ability levels, and with a goal to position Woodward as an industry leader.
Sport Organizational Partnerships & Industry Relationships
  • Helps identify the most relevant and effective Sport Organization and Industry partnerships to drive Woodward credibility within the Action Sports Industry, enhance the experience for Woodward customers, and increase participation.
  • Supports the execution of key governing body relationships by sport.
  • Collaborate with Powdr Partnership team to manage, coordinate, and execute Sport Organizational, Endemic Sponsorships, and Industry partnerships.
Requirements:

Preferred Experience/Special Skills:
  • Min 3-5+ years of Sport Brand Management, Team Management, Sports Marketing, or related experience in action sports. Degree in Marketing preferred.
  • Active interest in skateboarding, BMX, Scooter, Parkour, Roller Skate, and action sports in general.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and function in a fast-paced environment, often with changing priorities and simultaneous deadlines.
  • Experience reviewing, writing, and negotiating multi-year agreements involving Athletes, Sport Organizations, and/or Sport related companies.
  • Passion for the outdoor and action sports lifestyle and ability to understand and clearly communicate POWDR and Woodward's core offerings when needed
  • Proven ability to directly manage talent relationships and/or sport partnerships to surface insights that may inform brand and business plans in a professional environment.
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with co-workers in a safe and people-first environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments, and work as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including but not limited to meeting facilitation and presentation.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, OneNote, Teams), Zoom, Keynote, and content management systems.
  • Passionate about living an action sports and adventure lifestyle (Woodward and Powdr brands).

Basic Requirements:

  • License/Certifications- valid driver's license required
  • Technical- management and communications, public speaking; sales, marketing; Microsoft Office systems; strong grasp of summer camp/resort/hospitality business and financial models and metrics.
  • Physical Capabilities- bending, lifting, standing, participating in Woodward sports.
  • Additional- listening and problem-solving skills, a positive "can do" attitude, and a collaborative leadership style.
  • Must be comfortable working in an outdoor environment, as well as indoor office setting.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Ability to travel (up to) 40% of time to business properties and events as needed; could be weekly during peak seasons.
