Columbus Oncology is looking for a full-time Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team! This position supports our current operations in Columbus and our newest venture - the Dublin Cancer Center, which recently opened. The Dublin Cancer Center offers comprehensive outpatient services that oncology patients might need - and all under one roof!

What will you do?

The Accounts Receivable Specialist owns the process of payer and patient account balances being paid timely and remaining current. This role performs collection activities, such as monitoring delinquent accounts, contacting patients for account payment, resolving billing problems, and answering account inquiries.

This work involves:

  • Working with co-workers to resolve insurance payment and billing errors
  • Understanding the use of payer reports; identifying denied claims; researching and resolving issues, performing detailed reconciliations, and managing refunds to insurance companies
  • Working denial follow-up including calls to insurance and filing appeals and reconsiderations as needed
  • Following up on unpaid claims
  • Managing incoming patient calls to assist with billing concerns and collect payments on account
  • Doing collections pre-listing
  • Documenting follow-up activity, calls, etc. in the patient’s billing chart and/or account as needed

What will you need to be successful?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Accounts Receivable, Insurance, and appeals and denials in healthcare
  • Ability to read EOBs and use an EHR
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and experience with validating insurance
