Position Overview.

The Accounts Payable will actively support and perform accounting functions in the areas of Inventory Materials payable, plant/terminal inventory transactions, and general accounting.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Prepares, posts, verifies, and records incoming material payments in accordance with approved pricing to ensure timely and accurate inventory payments.
  • Reconciles purchased material received not invoiced reconciliation as well as vendor statements
  • Processes weekly / monthly fuel transactions and analysis of variances
  • Works with plant operators to ensure accurate production posting and evaluation of usage and waste
  • Reconciles raw material plant inventories and reports activities to support business decisions
  • Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Executes the monthly closing procedures which include recording journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Accurately deliver results individually and as a key team member in a fast paced, high-volume culture
  • Assist with requests documentation related to external and internal audits
  • Performs qualitative and quantitative financial analysis as directed by accounting management for support of business decisions by management
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and ad-hoc projects related to the nature of the job may be assigned


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


Education/Experience

  • Four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline preferred.
  • Must have excellent alpha/numeric data entry skills.
  • Able to read and/ or follow written and verbal instructions and implement the same.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills using MS Office (Word and Excel), e-mail and an attitude for learning new software.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to meet individual deadlines, as well as work collaboratively with team to help them meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated, effective skills in dealing with employees at all levels. Detail oriented with ability to identify connections and patterns

  • Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person.
  • Able to utilize a computer for word processing, e-mail communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.
  • May require periodically lifting objects up to 30 lbs.
