*This is a Hybrid role, with the need to visit the office every few weeks*

Manulife Forest Management, Inc. (“MFM”) and Manulife Farmland Services, Inc. (“MFS”) are wholly owned subsidiaries of Manulife Investment Management Timber & Agriculture (“MIMTA”). MFM and MFS are property management companies that serve global institutional investors through related-party investment management groups (Manulife Timber Resource Group and Manulife Agricultural Investment Group) and third-party private investors. MFM oversees the timber development and harvesting operations for approximately 3.8 million acres of timberland across the USA and Canada. MFS oversees the agricultural assets and operations for approximately 0.3 million acres of farmland throughout the USA. Collectively, MFM and MFS represent the North American property management platform of MIMTA.

MIMTA creates value through the sustainable management of natural resource investments. Through the five pillars of its Sustainability and Responsible Investing (SRI) platform (Ecosystem Resiliency, Watershed Protection, Climate Stability, People Empowerment, and Community Prosperity), MIMTA integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors throughout all aspects of its investment decision-making and property management. MIMTAs impacts in 2020 include managing 100% of our eligible timberland investments to third-party sustainability standards and earning the first farmland certification under the new Leading Harvest Farmland Management Standard. Over the past five years our forests ad farms have removed an average of 2.9 million metric tons of CO2 annually, and since our founding in 1985 we have planted over 1.2 billion trees.

The Accounts Payable associate will report directly to the Accounting Supervisor. The successful candidate will perform customary accounts payable duties, ensure accuracy in data entry, keep files organized and ensure proper electronic filing of department records. The incumbent will also have the ability to streamline and improve overall AP department process.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Sort and distribute incoming invoices, review vendor invoices for discrepancies, errors, etc.
  • Review invoices from the field for appropriate coding and approvals
  • Have a clear understanding of intercompany AP transactions
  • Call vendors to resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain timely entry of vendor invoices, particularly at month ends
  • Process weekly check runs, periodic urgent check runs
  • Provide superior customer service in responding to inquiries from vendors and internal staff
  • Scan invoices and checks into paperless filing system
  • Weekly reports to show week by week progress of check runs
  • Analyze and reconcile statements thoroughly
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of accounts payable experience required
  • Good computer skills in MS Excel, MS Word, SAGE 100, Great Plains or similar accounting programs
  • Experience working with farm labor contractors is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of employees and management
  • Superior organization skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to work in a fast paced office environment

  • Frequent Sitting, occasional lifting
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
  • View and Type on computer screens for long periods
  • Type 40 wpm

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Office is small with open floor plan, but is very quiet
  • Business casual office attire
  • Work is performed inside a temperature-controlled office building 100% of the time

Salary range is expected to be between

$36,675.00 USD - $61,125.00 USD
