Accounts Payable Associate

Location: Chesterfield, MO (Greater St. Louis Area) Hybrid to Remote

What are the roles and responsibilities of Experitec’s Accounts Payable Associate?

The Accounts Payable Associate is part of our Finance team and will ensure that our suppliers and employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner. The AP Associate will provide financial, administrative, and clerical support in accordance with Experitec’s established best practices. This person will strive to continuously improve business processes within areas of responsibility that promote internal efficiency and effectiveness while enhancing customer intimacy. The Accounts Payable Associate must have a high degree of accuracy, organizational skills and attention to detail to support our complex business. Our customers are largely manufacturing facilities and Upstream Oil & Gas. We serve many different industries including chemical, power generation, refining, oil & gas, food & beverage, pulp & paper, and water.

Typical work assignments include:

  • Daily processing of purchase order invoices.
  • Daily processing of customer invoices related to shipments from purchase orders verify tax, freight, cost, and quantities.
  • Daily processing of employee expenses for reimbursement.
  • Daily review of supplier statements – reconciling payment owed to suppliers.
  • Administer Lien Waiver process.
  • Daily production and posting of invoicing reports.
  • Daily/Monthly balancing of Commission Receivable aging to General Ledger.
  • Daily balancing of Accounts Payable detail to General Ledger.
  • Assist with the review of sales tax codes in ship to records and administer sales tax exemption certificates as required.
  • Assist with the review of existing customer credit as required and process/verify new customer requests.
  • Assist with the review of customer set up, bill to, and ship to addresses for accuracy.
  • Assist in generating Instant Invoices and Advanced Invoices, as needed.
  • Assist with various accounts reconciliation.
  • Assist with month-end journal entries.
  • Assist with month-end close, year-end close and special projects, as needed.
  • Assist with commission receivable processing.
  • Provide back-up assistance, when necessary, for processing of cash receipts, including, posting to detail customer accounts.
  • Provide additional support in the accounting department, as needed.
  • Perform electronic invoicing.
  • Provide supplier credit references, as needed.
  • Provide support for processing employee expense reports.

Who can do this job?

The following are preferred attributes/skills:

  • Associates degree in Accounting.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency working with computer-based accounting systems.

Other basic qualifications include:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and ability to work efficiently and effectively within a business system.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
