We are currently hiring a Brewery Operations Accountant (Milton Brewery) in Milton, DE (Hybrid) .

The Brewery Operations Accountant is responsible for a variety of duties around brewery plant costs, monthly close, payroll, TTB reporting, material costing and review of physical inventories and related adjustments. The successful candidate will need to possess good oral and written communications skills, operate in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency, and keep confidential information private. This role will work cross functionally and build relationships across operations and finance.

What You'll Brew :

  • TTB Reporting
    • Responsible for all reports relating to the Tax and Trade Bureau. This includes preparation of monthly Reports of Operations (Beer &Spirits) and bi-monthly taxes due, as well as all required export documentation, when applicable.
    • Support inquiries and audit requests for information regarding TTB filings
  • Payroll
    • Review timecards for approval and reasonableness, reports to payroll department hours to be paid.
    • Provide regular reports to operations around pay, hours, and headcount. Provide support to operations regarding time reporting and payroll, as needed
  • Monthly Close
    • Preparation of month end journal entries including accrual of outstanding accounts payable, temp labor, insurance, and various cost allocations
    • Reconcile inventory transactions and balances
    • Settle orders, calculate variances, review price calculations and assessments
    • Prepare site perpetual inventory reports monthly
    • Review and report inventory adjustments, monthly
  • Material Costing
    • Responsible for new product costing, to include review of routings and recipes
    • Actively participate in annual standard cost process
    • Collaborate with operations managers to build segment loss targets and throughput assumptions
  • Inventory
    • Review of in transit materials, communicate with appropriate parties to close those out timely
    • Review inventory in quality and hold status for accuracy and follow up as appropriate
    • Submit RFIAs, own communication regarding approvals and inquiries, and maintain tracking file
    • Support inventory tracking and management of local third-party warehouse
    • Support annual physical inventory
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Prepare departmental cost reports
    • Other projects as assigned

What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in finance and accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to compile large amounts of information into useable data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Effective multi-tasker, with ability to be flexible and shift priorities

Preferred Requirements

  • ERP experience needed, SAP preferred
  • Cost accounting experience preferred
