We are currently hiring a full time Project Accountant to work remotely (with ability to attend occasional in person meetings). This is a very exciting opportunity for the person who likes to be involved in the full range of accounting activities. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Program Accountant will be responsible for managing and monitoring some of our most complex programs. Bay Area Community Resources provides a tapestry of direct services, volunteerism and partnerships throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Headquartered in San Rafael, services are clustered in program areas that include expanded learning, behavioral and mental health, fiscal sponsorship, healthy communities, national service, and youth workforce and re-entry.

Position Title: Program Accountant

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree with a concentration in Accounting or related field
  • At least 2 years full-charge bookkeeping experience
  • Experience working with accounting software program with multiple segmented programs, preferably MIP software
  • Experience working in non-profit accounting is preferred
  • Solid knowledge in general ledger
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Intermediate user of MS Excel
  • Must be able to come to our offices in El Cerrito, San Rafael, and San Francisco

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and becoming familiar with project budgets.
  • Reviewing funding sources for projects, preparing invoicing and recording revenue and accounts receivable
  • Reviewing project payment requests against project budgets for sufficient funding
  • Processing payment requests
  • Reviewing project payroll for proper allocation among funding sources
  • Monitoring project budgets against actual revenue and expense
  • Analyzing and forecasting budget revenue and expenses
  • Working closely with Project Directors to prepare budget revisions and provide them with timely financial information
  • Preparing all cost reports relating to project
  • Performing compliance audits for applicable grants and contracts
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables
  • Review contracts for deadlines, compliance, reporting, and invoicing requirements
