Access Coordinator

Full-time (40/hour per week)

Cherokee Health Systems is a Federally Qualified Health Center located throughout Tennessee. We currently have 24 locations including Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis, and surrounding areas. Cherokee embraces an integrated care model of care where primary care and behavioral health providers support each other in providing the highest quality of care to our patients.

At Cherokee Health Systems we also know that our staff needs balance in their work and life. This position offers a set Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work schedule to allow our employees, family and friends time in the evenings and on the weekends.

As an Access Coordinator you would be the organizations “first impression”. Access Coordinators are our front line for patients calling in, providing our patients access to care.

Minimum experience and education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; one-year certificate from college or technical training program for medical office procedures preferred; 3 to 6 months related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experienced. Bilingual Access Coordinator positions available.

Access Coordinator requirements:

  • Utilizes professional customer service skills to process incoming phone calls, evaluating patient healthcare needs and directing patient requests to the most appropriate individual or department.
  • Accurately collects and enters all patient demographics including contact information, address, and required UDS demographics into electronic practice management system.
  • Obtains patient insurance information and verifies eligibility utilizing RTS. Informs patients of eligibility qualifications and required documentation needed for application of the sliding fee discount, Behavioral Health Safety Net, and other applicable financial programs.
  • Performs scheduling and/or rescheduling of appointments for both new and existing patients across multiple service lines.
