Job Description: Under the leadership of the Quality Supervisor, the primary role of a Calibration Technician is to ensure the overall health of the Calibration System. A Calibration Technician will ensure that all gauges used for production purposes are calibrated, in the calibration system and not past due for calibration all while making sure to support the day to day needs of Quality Teammates and the overall Quality Department. Shift: 2nd Shift – 2:00pm – 10:00pm; Monday - Friday

Reports To: Quality Supervisor

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identification, reporting, troubleshooting, and repair of nonconforming product.
  • Manage the calibration system including adding new gauge types, new calibration requirements and any other modifications to the program as required.
  • Perform and coordinate the timely execution of routine and non-routine calibration activities associated with current general methods and procedures on production and facility instrumentation
  • Calibrate equipment using manual or automated procedures, with the ability to substitute standards to complete the calibration
  • Procure gauges as requested by various departments as needs for calibrated equipment arise. Includes investigating new gauging, performing GR&R (Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility) or full MSA (Measurement System Analysis) as applicable, gathering quotes, creating purchase order requisitions and ensuring new gauging is properly added to the calibration system.
  • Evaluate and update calibration work instructions, procedures or processes.
  • Ensure the calibration status of all measuring and critical manufacturing equipment.
    • The expectation is that there will not be any gauges past due and that gauges are calibrated at least one week ahead of the calibration due date.
  • Coordinate calibration of equipment by 3rd parties as needed by coordinating onsite visits or sending gauging out for calibration.
  • Perform incoming inspections of new products and customer returns as needed.
  • Assist Quality Auditors and other functions of the Quality Department as needed.
  • Adherence to the Quality Policy and expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • 2-3 years of metrology experience preferred.
  • Functional experience and use of measurement equipment (Tape measure, Caliper, Protractor, etc.…).
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) a plus.
  • The individual must have a solid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes.
  • The individual must possess a keen sense of attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to determine material types and gauges.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Must be able to navigate in a Windows based computer environment utilizing Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).

Work Environment: Ability to perform in a manufacturing environment that may have high noise levels, dust, chemicals, oil, and grease. Ability to work in an environment that may be either hot, cold, or humid.
