TITLE: SummerHOP Learning Academy Educator(s)

TYPE OF POSITION: Part-time; program runs 8/7 - 8/18/23, First day: 8-1 (5 hours), Days 2-9: 8:30-12:30 (4 hours), Day 10: 8:30-1:30 (5 hours); educators are compensated for up to three hours of additional preparation time, and must attend orientation on Wednesday, June 7 3:45-4:45; Wage is $70/hour

SummerHOP Learning Academy Educators
will work in collaboration with the SummerHOP Directors to provide instruction, academic tutoring and pro-social activities (in a co-taught setting in grades 1-4). Curriculum will be mapped prior to the start of the program, with grade-specific, skills-based opportunities that are designed to reinforce critical skills, to remediate, and/or to enrich student learning. Educators will be hired to deliver small group instruction for participating students entering grades 1-4 in literacy and math. –ESOL– This program is designed on the premise that students will benefit from academic and social/emotional/recreational opportunities. The SummerHOP Educators will report to the SummerHOP Director(s).


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree, from an accredited college or university, in Education or a related field;
  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure as an elementary or secondary school educator preferred. Paraprofessionals or those with prior tutoring experience will be considered;
  • Successful experience in working with an elementary or secondary-aged cohort;
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Assistant Superintendent may find appropriate.


DUTIES:

  • Participates in program orientation;
  • Completes tasks necessary to prepare for program implementation (three hours; six hours for secondary ESOL);
  • Oversees the daily instruction for assigned students, ensuring that the curriculum and instructional plans are followed as designed and adapted as needed;
  • Maintains clear and ongoing communication;
  • Monitors student attendance, and relays concerns to the Director(s);
  • Other duties, as directed.
