Position Summary

To advance the spiritual ministry of The Salvation Army in Santa Clarita in conjunction with the services provided through the Santa Clarita Service Extension Unit.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities:

• Be available to provide spiritual support to existing Salvation Army social services in Santa Clarita
• Develop ministry outreach to local community including clients being served by The Salvation Army
• Prepare and provide mid -week adult bible study, Celebrate Recovery or relevant spiritual instruction as identified by local needs.
• Recruit, train, oversee and manage volunteers to assist in all areas of spiritual programing
• Hold a weekly worship service and develop a stable multi- generational congregation in order to establish a permanent Salvation Army presence (Outpost/Corps)
• Work to develop monthly family outreach event as well as establishing other foundational Salvation Army programs for children and adults.
• Join local Service Club to recruit potential Advisory Board members and begin fundraising efforts
• Work closely with ARC (Conoga Park) to provide spiritual support to residents and their families.
• In conjunction with Service Extension contact local city officials to determine community needs and help provide Salvation Army support as appropriate
• Record statistics, and maintain records of all programs, membership rolls, etc. as per standard policy and procedure.
• Report all accidents and facility safety concerns to Director of Service Extension
• Manage and maintain all ministry property, including facilities, furnishings, equipment and vehicles assigned to program.
• Ensure safety and proper conduct of those using ministry area for services.
• Maintain a high professional standard, keeping the highest levels of confidentiality and trust, realizing that you are a mandated reporter as per Protect The Mission Policies of The Salvation Army
• Work closely with DHQ leadership to develop a thriving faith community in Santa Clarita that will grow the Kingdom of God and strengthen The Salvation Army

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be an active Salvation Army Soldier in good standing.
• Must understand Salvation Army doctrine and practices and apply them to daily living.
• Must have knowledge and experience leading Salvation Army specific programs.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Driving Test and clean MVR check (if applicable).
• If working in vicinity of children a criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
• Able to use all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite and be familiar with use of Lotus Notes
