Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington (BGCSW or Clubs) is seeking qualified candidates to work with youth and assist with the distribution of food to children and teens from June 12-August 18. Work with either elementary ages or teens (middle school and high school).

MISSION STATEMENT

To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Join us for a summer adventure! With supervision from the Club Director, you will work as a Summer Youth Development Professional to:

  • Plan and implement a variety of activities for youth in a specialty area - sports, games, technology, art, education, etc. and other recreational settings.
  • Provide behavioral guidance using de-escalation techniques, restorative practices, and problem-solving.
  • Provide direction, affirm positive behavior and act as a role model to youth.
  • Provide a safe environment through active supervision, setting clear expectations and maintaining clean program areas.
  • Maintain a good reputation and moral conduct outside of work, in the community and on social media.
  • Assist with the distribution of food to children and teens, including set up and clean up at assigned food disruption sites.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED – Required
  • Able to pass a national background check – Required
  • Experience working with youth or similar experience for at least one (1) year - Preferred
  • Possess skills for instruction, direction and guidance, with the ability to lead and control groups of youth in various recreational and educational activities – Required
  • Experience with program planning and implementation – Preferred

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Must be available to work between 7:30 a.m - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Approximately 20-35 hours per week
  • June 12 - August 18, 2023
