We are seeking an individual that is genuine, responsible, upbeat and highly motivated with great people skills and a desire to learn about and share wine knowledge, build relationships, and directly support our Winemaker and event rentals while giving our visitors a great and memorable experience!

Position Summary:

The ability to work the minimum core hours of Thursday, Friday, Saturday 11:30am-6:30pm and Sunday 12:30-6:30pm, with flexibility to work additional hours when necessary to support winery operations, e.g., special events. Please do not apply if you are unable to work the core hours along with flexible additional hours.

This individual is responsible for supporting and working closely with the management team to promote and fulfill the company’s mission statement and core values. Specifically, he/she will focus on the execution of Wine Production, Event Rentals, and Facility logistics while both displaying excellent hospitality and creating a clean, fun, positive, and energy appropriate environment for Stonefield Cellars Winery guests. Additionally, this individual is essential in assisting the Tasting Room Team and Management Team with both indirect and direct customer service on busy days. This is an opportunity for an individual to work beside and gain winemaking knowledge from a PhD Oenologist (Dr. Robert Wurz). This position is the ideal opportunity for someone interested in developing or expanding a career in winery operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Winemaker with general winemaking and production activities.
  • Compile a monthly case count and yearly barrel inventory.
  • Assist Winemaker with collecting sales data and on-hand inventory to predict and identify restock threshold.
  • Work with the Winemaker to create and execute bottling campaigns.
  • Coordinate with the Winemaker to host Winemaking classes.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of all production and working areas.
  • Maintain a clean and appealing outdoor seating area for guests.
  • Assisting Management Team with the execution of Tasting Room and Private Party Rentals.
  • Preparing the facility for rentals and events in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Working the Tasting Room floor and behind the Tasting Bar – Greet customers, pour our wines, discuss our wines in a positive, knowledgeable way, explain our history, and promote the sale of our wines and non-wine items. Must be able to accurately handle our Point of Sales equipment as well as accurately handle cash, credit cards, and other promotional/discount collateral.
  • Assist Tasting Room Staff with Inventorying and Restocking Tasting Room Wine, Beer, and Snacks.
  • Communicate effectively with the Management Team through one-on-one and team meetings, phone, and email correspondence to assure tasks or directives are implemented in a timely, thorough, and correct manner.
  • Working flexible schedules in accordance with company needs.
  • Efficiently performing in a fast-paced environment through multi-tasking.
  • Providing superior customer service as a face and voice of Stonefield Cellars Winery via in-person interactions, email and phone correspondence, and social media.
  • Assisting in the execution of Wine Club Selection pickups, Wine Club events throughout the year, and ensuring all Wine Club member requests are met promptly and courteously.
  • Assisting in the new customer and Wine Club Member data entry with close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Properly resolving customer and employee concerns/complaints/issues in accordance with company policies.
  • Participating in winery events off-premise when needed.
  • Assist with winery landscape maintenance and quarterly highway trash removal.

Hours: The winery is open to the public 12-6pm Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and 1-6pm Sunday. Normal shift hours are Thursday, Friday, Saturday 11:30am-6:30pm and Sunday 12:30-6:30pm plus additional hours as needed.

Required:

  • Age 21 or over
  • A passion for and (either current or interest in gaining) knowledge of wine and wine production
  • Flexibility/Adaptability to shift between 'back of house' and 'front of house' duties on any given workday
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Willingness to work extended hours during busy season as needed
  • Able to lift and move 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Covid-19 Vaccinated

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in the hospitality/beverage/agriculture industry OR has a bachelors degree OR has taken classes / is currently enrolled in a hospitality/beverage/agriculture education track.
  • Highly organized with an attention to detail
  • Ability to efficiently multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in data entry, inventory management, and cash register/POS operations
