Job Summary:
The VP, Finance will direct and oversee the financial activities of the corporation, direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth.

Oversees the Accounting department, FP&A team, and Planning team.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Managing Banking Relationships – about to close with a new lender. Leader will have to manage the communication, reporting requirements, covenant performance, etc.
  • Cash Flow Forecasting & Management – strong forecasting abilities, experience in contingency planning and managing in and through a “tight” cash environment
  • Management Reporting & Analysis – need to build from scratch. Less numbers…more meaning and actions. Board • Executive Leadership Team (ELT) • Organization
  • Oversee Control Environment – table stakes… timely monthly close, clean audit performance, no surprises
  • Partner to CEO – connect the numbers to the business leaders, partner in driving change, rethinking the model to profitability, etc.
  • Establishes internal controls for monitoring assets, capital investments, controlling costs, and measuring liquidity
  • Liaisons with senior leadership from accounting on matters of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
  • Summarizes the financial status of the organization; interprets asset ratios, break-even analysis reports, profit margins, operating costs, stock value (if applicable), and other metrics used in measuring fiscal stability
  • Communicates with operations, marketing, HR, IT, and other departments on matters of budget approval and ROI for specific projects
  • Prepares for audits and makes certain that financial reporting is completed properly, and that all documentation follows applicable regulations (including GAAP, FASB, or SEC mandates)
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination
  • Establishes departmental policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization's long-term success
Qualifications and Requirement:
  • Bachelor's degree required and at least 10 years of management experience
  • Leadership skills. Ability to drive strategic direction, decision-making, planning, analytical thinking
  • Retail experience a plus

  • Strong Presentation Abilities – preparing Board materials will be an important part of the job. Storytelling in general is key for any successful finance leader – the numbers are important but what they say, why and what is next is, in many cases, more important
