Summary/Objective

The Rosewood Family of Companies consists of four operating companies providing a diverse set of people-centric services to the retail and home construction industries. The group of companies is underpinned by a real-time, cloud-based proprietary project management platform (Cruxos).


The Vice President of Technology & Product will oversee and direct the strategic and day-to-day activities of this flagship software as a service (SaaS) product/platform, ensuring that the product evolves with the needs of our family of operating companies and future external clients while continuing to operate reliably and securely. The position leverages the full product management life cycle to support near-term and long-term organizational goals, and provides direct oversight of a dedicated development team. Responsibilities include customer and market insights, product strategy formulation, product planning, product development (enhancements and new product versions), and post-launch performance management.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, develop, and motivate a team of remote software development professionals
  • Direct the activities of an application development team using agile practices
  • Recruit, interview, hire and train management and professional-level staff in the Technology department
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve platform and team performance
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Management Team (EMT) as a Subject Matter Expert and organizational leader
  • Directly supervise 2 - 6 staff members. This position may also supervise projects and initiatives across departments

Essential Functions

  • Develop and use a product management model to govern the near-term and long-term platform goals
  • Construct and maintain a product roadmap
  • Research, understand, and generate insights to align product with customer and market demand
  • Participate in the design, ideation, creation, and deployment of scalable and secure software solutions
  • Oversee the development of native mobile applications (iOS and Android)
  • Assist with platform architectural improvements and break out new applications and services
  • Integrate and synchronize platform requirements across a family of operating companies
  • Instill a continuous improvement mindset and strategically evolve a proprietary software platform
  • Develop relationships with internal clients to assess their technology and support needs
  • Manage installation, upgrade, and configuration activities of a proprietary software platform
  • Manage the product backlog grooming and prioritization process
  • Own platform quality assurance and quality control
  • Prepare, implement, and execute department budget

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related Field
  • 10+ years of product management experience
  • 7+ years of product development experience
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • Background in and thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Proven experience in bringing a software product to market
  • Experience managing both nascent and mature software platforms
  • Knowledgeable in front end and backend frameworks
  • Conversant in PHP scripting language, CodeIgniter framework, MySQL databases, and API integrations
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) (EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, LightSail)
  • Familiarity with Jira/Confluence issue tracking/project management application
  • Proficient in Microsoft O365 suite of productivity tools and applications
  • Demonstrated ability to express candor tactfully, institute accountability, and build consensus

Preferred Experience

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems Management or a related field, MBA is a plus
  • Product management certification (PMC, CPM)
  • Experience with Laravel, Ruby on Rails, Django (Python), and Node.js backend frameworks
  • Conversant in cloud computing, data lake architectures, and data and analytics technologies
  • Familiarity with Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) model

Work Environment

The job will operate in a corporate office in Raleigh, NC each work day (infrequent hybrid or remote working on a case-by-case basis only). The role uses standard office equipment including computers and phones.

The position generally requires 8 – 10 hours per weekday, and occasional evening and/or weekend work.
