VDC Manager Job at Boyd Jones Construction
The VDC Manager is responsible for overall management of Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) projects and will help develop, implement, and manage VDC processes for Boyd Jones. The role will be responsible for providing VDC and Building Information Modeling (BIM) leadership and Construction Technology training and support. The ideal candidate will assist in the development of VDC-based innovation, initiatives, and processes and serve as the liaison between departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitors and sustains companywide VDC standards by leading Operations VDC best practices specific to 2D/3D coordination.
- Build models or further develop existing models to be used for specific needs at all phases of the project.
- Participate in the evaluation of new software and technology.
- BIM Coordination to include clash detection, model coordination, 4D BIM and preconstruction assistance.
- Lead the drone program for Boyd Jones. Train multiple internal pilots and utilize drones in all phases of construction.
- Laser scanning collection and processing for utilization by field teams and owners.
- A continuous learner who invests in research and development of new hardware and software that will help Boyd Jones grow, innovate, and become more efficient.
- Strong leader who is willing to manage a team and grow the next generation of VDC leaders.
- Oversees VDC Coordinators and Engineers.
- Develop and implement VDC training.
- Create and maintain 4D models as required.
- Other miscellaneous technological responsibilities that support projects and the company.
- Some Regional Travel is required.
Qualifications:
- Four to 10 years of experience in a VDC role.
- Preferred degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
- Must be proficient in 3D Modeling, BIM, and CAD-based software (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and others)
- Proficiency with 3D Laser Scanning, Procore, UAS/Drone Technology
- Strong communication, leadership, and team building skills
- MS Office skills required
