Job Title: Van Conversion Lead

Reports to: Custom Director

Location: Port Townsend, Washington

Job Summary

Camp N Car is seeking a Van Conversion Lead to spearhead major projects in our growing custom conversion shop. This is a dynamic role that will involve having your hands on all aspects of van conversion projects from start to finish. The Van Conversion Lead will act as a crucial part of a skilled team by leading carpentry projects, working on 12V electrical systems, plumbing, window installation, exterior modifications, and much more. Interfacing with customers and carrying out consultations will also become an integral part of this role after a good familiarity with Camp N Car and our processes have been established.

Key Responsibilities

● Work with the Custom Shop team on the execution of custom van and vehicle campers.
● Fabricate a wide variety of wood furniture and components for van interiors such as cabinetry, bed platforms, storage solutions, trim pieces, paneling, and more.
● Carry out the installation of 12V power systems in vans, run wire, affix solar panels, and demonstrate competency in how the power output relates to the van amenities.
● Work on and troubleshoot plumbing systems ranging from freshwater tanks to sinks, showers, composting toilets, water heaters, and more.
● Install diesel and gasoline heaters from brands like Webasto and Espar.
● Accurately track and report time and materials expenses for each project.
● Interface with clients to discuss ongoing projects and carry out initial consultations to help design projects and determine expected expenses.
● Provide input to continuously improve project designs and workflow processes.

Requirements

Van builders are a jack of all trades and this role is no different. Camp N Car needs someone who is a skilled carpenter but also understands the dynamic systems that go into building vans and other complex camper conversions. Having experience with van conversions is highly preferred, although past work with boats, tiny homes, and similar projects is also beneficial.
Coming on board with a solid understanding of the array of vanlife products that exist on the market today will offer a big advantage. The ideal candidate has prior experience working on high-ticket projects in collaborative team settings. Good communication skills along with the ability to problem solve and demonstrate creativity are a must. ● Starting pay ranges between $30 - $40 an hour depending on experience

Schedule

● 4-Day work weeks with the potential to increase to 5-day work weeks if desired
● Work days start at 9:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM with unpaid lunch and paid breaks
● Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday schedule depending on availability and need
● Opportunities for a flexible schedule as needed with advance notice
