OVERVIEW

The Utilities Operator is responsible for the proper performance and good housekeeping requirements for materials and equipment.


DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs start-ups, shutdowns, operates and monitors the operation of Boilers, Turbines, Air Compressors, Water Plant, Lime Plant, Injection Water Pumps, and associated equipment.
  • Performs chemical testing for Boilers, Turbines, Water Plant and Lime Plant and makes the necessary chemical injection adjustments.
  • Performs routine/preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on the Boilers, Turbines, Water Plant and Lime Plant and associated equipment.
  • Prepares chemicals for use in all water treatment and maintains inventory of all chemicals for use in water treatment. Requests chemicals as needed.
  • Performs all material handling including forklift operation and accepts new shipments of chemicals, unloads and places in position as necessary.
  • Enters daily information in the logbook and completes required reports.
  • Involved in major/minor overhauls of equipment on the Boilers, Turbines, Water Plant and Lime Plant equipment.
  • Writes work orders for repairs required for his/her equipment and coordinates with maintenance personnel with minor maintenance tasks.
  • Responsible for maintaining sanitation levels as required.


WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Two years of industrial experience working with high-pressure steam turbines or industrial boilers or Class II Engineers license for steam turbines or Boilers.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Class I license from state of Louisiana on water treatment preferred.


ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

  • Must have mechanical aptitude and ability to use tools required to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Must have the ability to perform tests, comprehend instrumentation, take corrective action, and maintain records.


HOURLY RATE:

  • Starting Rate: $35.00
