Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: Starting pay is $21.00 (Base Pay $18.50 + Locale Diff $2.50 = $21.00) – $23.22 per hour and considers preferred experience and preferred education described below.

Description of Responsibilities: The Patient Experience Specialist Lead is responsible for providing leadership support and coverage for front desk operations including exceptional front line customer service to AHS clinic patients, staff and all others contacting the clinic for assistance. This position will be called upon to support the implementation of Axis Health System (AHS) policy and programming and will work closely with the Regional Manager to manage day-to-day operations. This position requires a systems approach and a passion for ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service. The Lead maintains broad knowledge of all AHS services and links patients and other customers to the appropriate resource to satisfy their request. Additionally, this role includes responsibility to ensure front desk operations adhere to the standards set by Senior Leadership and to ensure efficient and effective delivery of front desk functions.


Supervisory responsibilities: Yes


Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. AHS may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: High School or Equivalent
  • Experience: 1 year customer service in a healthcare setting

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience: 3 years customer service in a healthcare setting

  • Must be knowledgeable regarding patient health information and HIPAA compliance.
  • Must be organized and demonstrate the ability to follow guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be self-directed.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow the organization’s confidentiality and security rules.

  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and bookkeeping skills sufficient to accurately process financial transactions as required by the positions supervised.
  • Ability to absorb and understand complicated insurance benefit information and to work with patients to resolve authorization or other insurance related issues.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax, and multi-line telephone.
  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ability to access the internet.
  • Competencies in obtaining and recording patient vital signs and machine readings according to facility policies for patient rooming.
  • Ability to take on additional duties when necessary and/or as requested.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Additional eligibility requirements:

  • Annual Flu immunization
  • Annual TB screening
  • CPI training within 90 days of hire
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
