UNMANNED AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE (UAV) FIELD SPECIALIST

Intertek’s Advanced Inspection Specialty Services is planning to add an Unmanned Autonomous Vehicle (UAV) Field Specialist in Houston, Texas at our Space Centre Blvd office. The AISS UAV Field Specialist possesses extensive experience with robotics and is responsible for setting up and operating various drone devices including Falcon 8+, Elios2, DJI M Series, Autel, DJI Mavic, etc. with different inspection payloads, performing different levels of data acquisition, and processing and reporting collected data. The UAV pilot will be utilizing his/her expert knowledge to define plans, organize, and execute complex flight programs in all industries, including O&G offshore, wind power, petrochemical, construction, etc. to ensure successful project execution and client deliverables. Ability to evaluate the requested scope of work and through direct liaison with Clients, prepare appropriate Execution / Safety Plans (with support) and flight path plans.

How you’ll make an impact at Intertek:

• Utilizes expert knowledge to define plans, organize, and execute complex flight programs in all industries, including O&G offshore, wind power, petrochemical, construction, etc.
• Ensures successful project execution and client deliverables.
• Evaluates the requested scope of work and through direct liaison with Clients, prepares appropriate Execution/Safety Plans (with support) and flight path plans.
• Monitors and documents UAV Projects, and the ability to communicate detailed feedback.
• Maintains UAVs in optimal condition.
• Performs flights while utilizing UAV designed functions for R&D.
• Properly interprets regulations, codes, and industry standards.
• Processes Photogrammetry, LIDAR or other types of point cloud data in various software programs depending on client deliverables.
• Compiles and submits daily reports, inspection reports, and inter-office communications including completed performance/inspection reports in a timely manner.
• Maintains a positive relationship between client, facility, and customer; and promotes a positive attitude towards coworkers.
• Ensures that all Intertek and site safety policies and procedures are being followed.

What it takes to be successful in this role:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required
• 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate is required
• Experience with FAA Rules and Regulations
• Elios2 and/or DJI M300 and point cloud dataset processing experience is required
• Knowledge using Flyability Inspector Software package
• Knowledge using Pix4D, DroneDeploy or other software platforms
• Experience in operating Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs) – Both land and water preferred
• Industry recognized Certifications and/or training would be highly regarded
• Non-destructive testing (API Certification) optional
• TWIC Card is a plus
• Offshore Survival Certification (e.g. BOSIET, HUET, FOET, RigPass) is desired
• Military background is a plus
• Ability to work on offshore facilities such as drill ships, FPSOs, semi-submersibles, production platforms, etc.
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required
• Operate a vehicle safely in oil and gas facilities and field sites.
• Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
• Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties
• Travel domestic and international (up to 50%) passport required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
