Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees onboarding and training process for new hires, newly promoted employees, and existing employees.
  • Tracks and reports trainees progress to Motor Vehicle leadership.
  • Travels to Tarrant County sub courthouses for continued training for new and tenured employees.
  • Supervises trainees through training program, providing coaching and feedback.
  • Examines trainees’ registration and title transactions.
  • Communicates with managers regarding new hire progress and needs assessment.
  • Evaluates, edits, and submits training manuals and material for approval prior to class.
  • Selects appropriate training methods and activities to reach employees and develops training styles to educate and coach trainees.
  • Communicates with managers to identify and create development plans for teams.
  • Enriches training materials with visual aids to engage trainees. Creates videos for staff training and taxpayer information.
  • Acts as a resource for questions regarding procedures, processes, policies, etc.
  • Measures outcomes from training and reports to management. Hosts train-the-trainer sessions for internal subject matter experts.
  • Monitors documentation of staff training; prepares and submits electronic certification and re-certification applications to Motor Vehicle leadership.
  • Collaborates and networks with other tax office professionals statewide regarding training resources, information, and general trends.
  • Assists motor vehicle with clerical duties such as registration renewals, title transactions, and mail in transactions.
  • May assume operational duties as needed of the Motor Vehicle Supervisor in their absence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK AT ANY TAX OFFICE LOCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of office or retail experience is required with three (3) years of experience with training adult learners or with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Registration and Title System (RTS), TxDMV’s webDEALER, or another state’s motor vehicle system or as a training specialist.
  • Must be able to explain state laws pertaining to titling, registration, and sales tax on motor vehicles and instruct others to follow procedures.
  • Must maintain a good rapport with employees and coworkers.
  • Current and valid driver license required.

If hired, you must provide proof of educational attainment
at new hire processing.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, lift, push and pull. Use of a motor vehicle is required to perform the essential duties of this position.
