Trade Compliance Specialist - Import Export Job at OPW

OPW Retail Fueling is hiring a proven Import/ Export Specialist. Join OPW as a Trade Compliance Specialist, a key member of our global manufacturing and logistics team, ensuring accuracy of import/ export information and working cross-functionally to maintain compliance information and assist in resolving trade compliance issues. What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure accuracy of import/export information, data, and reports
  • Manage, request, and compile necessary import documentation to ensure entry accuracy
  • Partner with Engineering and Compliance to ensure accurate Harmonized Tariff classifications
  • Work with Sourcing to identify and implement opportunities to maximize landed cost savings opportunities to include, but not limited to freight cost, consolidate, routings, regional parts warehousing, and/or tariff considerations
  • Assist in maintaining part databases with global trade compliance data including product classifications, HTS Codes, ECCN, and country of origin classifications
  • Manage third parties, as it relates to international shipments
  • Create metrics for internal compliance and spend control
  • Audit Import entry data and manage any Post Entry Amendment requirements with the broker
  • Monitor brokered carrier KPI’s. Review broker invoices in CTSI for accuracy
  • Export Hold Releases - Obtain and save End Use Statements for high-risk countries, assess ECCN vs Country of Destination for License Requirements, and assess Denied Parties Holds for True Match vs False Positive
  • Coordinate with OPW Compliance Team to resolve trade compliance issues and implement corrective actions as needed

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in import/export compliance related job responsibilities
  • Significant experience in manufacturing, supply chain, traffic, logistics, business, and trade highly desired
  • Minimum Associate’s Degree in relevant discipline; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a positive, team-oriented approach
  • Strong data analysis, metrics, and MS Excel skills required
  • Ability to assess risk and recommend actions and strategies to mitigate regulatory risks
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently on multiple tasks to meet deadlines, prioritize, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience in tariff classification and country of origin determination
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience within NAFTA/USMCA and customs and import/export operations, Duty Drawback, HTS Codes, and Tariff Shifts
  • Strong understanding of custom documentation requirements and US customs regulations
  • A strong understanding of domestic and international freight (all modes)
  • US Customs Brokerage License not required, but highly desirable
  • Impeccable ethics and trustworthiness
