Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Tool Designer to support the Pike County Operations (PCO) located near Troy, Alabama. This state-of-the-art facility provides the safest and most advanced missile assembly and test operation of its kind. This center supports sales of more than $1B annually.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Collaborate with product design engineering, production operations and other stakeholders to conceptualize, design, and fabricate special tools, holding fixtures, assembly fixtures, and inspection gauges necessary for the manufacture & assembly of military missiles to the engineering requirements from drawings, specifications, and CAD models.

Create detailed tool design drawings, complete with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), utilizing PTC Creo.

Provide shop floor support as necessary to resolve tooling and technical manufacturing related issues plus other duties as assigned.

Troy, Alabama is in the East Gulf Coastal Plains region of southeastern Alabama. Troy's climate is typical of areas along the Gulf of Mexico in that it has hot, humid summers and mild winters.

Where can you get to from Troy? Our facility in Troy is just under an hour south of Montgomery, Alabama. Troy is about 2.5 hours north of the Gulf of Mexico and Fort Walton Beach and Florida's Pan Handle. Troy is about three hours from Atlanta, GA.
Basic Qualifications:
Engineering degree or a related technical discipline at the Bachelor level or above.

Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance. Lockheed Martin will assist selected candidate with obtaining at least an Interim Secret Clearance prior to starting.

General knowledge of Manufacturing Processes.

Experience interpreting engineering requirements from product data models, drawings, parts lists and specifications with a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.

Demonstrated ability to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, PTC Creo or equivalent, in designing fixtures, inspection gauges and other special tools from design concept into a producible working tool with little to no supervision.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working on projects with teams as a leader and participant.

Additionally, the candidate must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ("ATF") background check to obtain approval to be an "employee possessor" (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment.
Desired Skills:
Expert knowledge of PTC Creo CAD and Windchill PLM software.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Strong hands-on mechanical assembly / disassembly / troubleshooting / repairing skills of non-operating industrial tools and equipment.

Working knowledge of Machine Shop practices (Machine Tool Selection by Capability, Finishing Processes, Precision Inspection, and Assembly).

Familiarity with ISO9000 and AS9100 industry standards, and common military specifications.

The ability to work all schedules / shifts (first shift, night shift, and weekend schedule).
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
