Westbrook Health Services has openings for motivated and caring School-Based Therapists to work with schools in our catchment area. The School-Based Therapist is responsible for providing services related to the delivery of mental health care to assigned clients at the designated school location. The therapist will work with students with emotional and/or behavioral needs, which are referred by the school personnel or their parents. The candidate will demonstrate expertise in evidence-based treatment modalities for co-occurring diagnosis, development of client support systems, and discharge/continuing care planning.

Responsibilities

· Provide counseling activities including but not limited to enhancing coping skills, providing family functioning interventions, promoting communication and social interaction, family relationship enhancement, parenting education, substance abuse education, domestic violence education, and sexual abuse education.

· Conduct weekly/monthly sessions with school-aged clients and parents as needed in the school or home.

· Identify and assess sources of academic concerns, including factors in the school environment, the home setting, and the community that interfere with school success.

· Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently with staff, students, and parents.

· Schedule appointments with clients according to program standards.

· Complete clinical notes within 24-hours and other paperwork as required.

· Maintain consistent contact with referral sources and work cooperatively with other members of the client’s treatment team.

· Maintain ethical boundaries with clients, families, and others.

· Represent and conduct self in accordance with Westbrook’s policies and procedures with a high regard for the confidentiality of clients and follow all HIPPA guidelines.

· Answer incoming phone calls from clients whenever possible.

· Check e-mail throughout the day and respond as appropriate.

· Attend monthly team meetings, school meetings, and educational trainings.

· Attend supervision meetings as required according to the level of licensure.

· Collaborate with school personnel consistently.

· Any other duties necessary for the continued function and operation of the organization.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS:

· Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or other behavioral health fields

· Must be license eligible in the state of WV

  • Working knowledge of various counseling models, practices and resources

· Prior experience working in a school setting preferred.

  • Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse student pool
  • Integrity and professionalism

· Ability to function autonomously in stressful situations and make appropriate assessments in coordination with a multidisciplinary team.

· General knowledge of community resources, and standard models of service coordination.

· Must demonstrate superior listening, communication, and writing skills.

· Structured and organized to support those in crisis and in need.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
