Division: Beach & Activities (BEP001)

MKR Tennis Clerk

Primary Responsibilities: Greet and welcome guests, personalizing the service. Gather information from guests regarding tennis needs; arrange matches according to ability and level and skill; book courts. Assist customers with tennis equipment demonstrations, rentals and merchandise sales; schedule lessons; prepare court for use. Set-up ball machine, keep water coolers filled and maintain a supply of towels, cups, etc. Keep shop and tennis facility clean and orderly. Open and close the tennis shop each day. May organize tournaments. Collect payment or make charges for sales on the resort’s POS system. Receive, stock, price and display merchandise; assist in inventory. Answer telephone and questions regarding the tennis facility.

Essential Duties:
1. Greet and welcome guests, personalizing the services offered according to resort standards.
2. Offer assistance to guests with purchases and booking court times.
3. Process court fees and merchandise sale following procedures using the resort’s POS system.
4. Responsible for a cash bank and process cash, credit card and room charge transactions according to established policies and procedures.
5. Arrange matches according to ability and level of skill of the players.
6. Answer the telephone and answer questions regarding the tennis facility.
7. Schedule lessons and clinics.
8. Open and/or close tennis shop.
9. Set-up ball machine.
10. Organize tournaments for groups and guests.
11. Report equipment in need of repair.
12. Keep shop and tennis facility clean and orderly; refresh water and towel supply.
13. Service guests at courtside with water and chilled towels.
14. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Other Duties:
1. Price, stock and attractively display merchandise.
2. Up-sell merchandise and promote other resort facilities including restaurants.

Working Conditions:
1. Tennis Shop
2. Outdoor in various weather conditions.

Work Hours:
1. Must be able to work shift and days determined by the Director of Tennis
2. Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week, when needed.

Equipment Use:
1. Proficient in the use of the resort’s POS system.
2. Ability to use the telephone.
3. Ability to use various office equipment including but not limited to calculators, photocopiers and facsimile machines.
4. Tennis ball machine, leaf blower, court wand.
5. Tennis racquet stringer.
6. Golf cart

Mental and Physical Demands:
1. Ability to prioritize and organize workload.
2. Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
3. Able to stand and walk during most of shift.
4. Able to bend to pick up merchandise, supplies; keep work area clean.
5. Able to lift/carry or push/pull up to 25 lbs of equipment or merchandise and supplies.

Communication Demands:
1. Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, manager and guests/clients.
2. Ability to communicate over the phone.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
1. Knowledge of the game of tennis, preferred.
2. Able to perform general cashiering procedures.
3. Must be pleasant, friendly and smiling.
