The posting is designed to aid in filling an unexpected vacancy or an urgent need on a part-time or full-time, temporary basis. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and organization principles
  • Excellent writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar for correspondence and reports.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently; attention to detail; determine priorities; meet multiple deadlines and have basic fiscal skills.
  • Previous experience working with the public.
  • Ability to operate a multi-line phone system.
  • Knowledge of purchasing procedures.
  • Ability to arrange travel.
  • Ability to perform inventory.
  • Problem-solving/decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated proficiency with MS products (Excel, MS Word), ability to use computer scheduling programs, navigate various types of software, and the ability to send and download electronic documents through the Internet.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

1 year to 3 years office/administrative experience or equivalent. Experience working with the public.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Alaska Driver's License.

This position varies in salary based on the position and duties hired for, Temp salary scale Grade 77 ($20.47/hr) to Grade 79 ($24.43/hr). Please note the following regions have a geographic differential that will be incorporated into the final salary amount:

  • Bethel (38%)
  • Dillingham, Aleutian Islands, Adak, Sand Point, Bristol Bay (27%)
  • Additional locations might have applicable geographic differential and the appropriate hiring authority will discuss this upon a request to offer.
