Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Technical Writer to join our team in the Herndon, VA location.

ManTech’s Federal-Civilian (FedCiv) Sector is seeking a Technical Writer to join the Sector Proposal Operations (SPO) team. A position on this team requires interface and partnership with all levels of employees and management including but not limited to SPO Proposal Managers, operations, sales, subject matter experts and corporate business services. The Technical Writer will proactively and autonomously lead, analyze, and write proposal corporate experience, past performance, and key personnel resume references/volumes.

Our FedCiv business is fast moving, growing, and expanding. As a member of the SPO, you will work as part of an agile team based in best-practice process yet highly adaptable to a dynamic environment with varying customers, schedules, and requirements.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as a member of a proposal leadership team to research, analyze, prepare, manage, and submit proposals for Government projects
  • Reviews requirements and defines company experience, past performance and key personnel resume response strategy and templates to ensure highest evaluation ratings
  • Meets with pursuit team(s) to capture key solution aspects (for corporate experience, past performance, and key personnel proposal content); develops content to reflect these key aspects
  • Write technical copy for corporate experience, past performance, and key personnel resume references/volumes
  • Proactively and autonomously prepares, reviews, revises, and maintains proposal documents – conc. company experience, past performance, and key personnel resume references/volumes
  • Ensures corporate experience, past performance and key personnel resume copy complies with applicable RFx instructions and company proposal best practices, and agreed-upon elements are incorporated into a cohesive and persuasive format
  • Provides desktop publishing and technical editing to maintain a high-quality response
  • Supports ad-hoc, special projects and/or any other proposal writing actions required by management

Basic Qualifications:

  • An associate degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university -OR- an additional (2) two years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • A minimum of (3) three years of proposal technical writing experience
  • A minimum of (5) five years related experience with a federal systems integrator company
  • Experience writing copy for multiple proposals at a time
  • Experience managing tasks across multiple proposals in a fast-paced, dynamic, cross-functional team-oriented environment
  • Expert level skills in Microsoft Office products and proposal tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Zoom, Slack, Salesforce
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and company initiatives such as process improvement and new software implementation and upgrades
  • Experience with electronic file organization and knowledge management and sharing
  • Proactive and autonomous- requires minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work well remotely via teleworking as well as in the ManTech DC-VA-MD Area offices as may be applicable
  • Public relations or marketing experience

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must hold an active TS/SCI

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time
  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

The projected compensation range for this position is $110,800-$130,000. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, ManTech invests in it’s employees beyond just compensation.
