Team Lead Job at Elemental Design

Elemental Design Remote

Account Manager/Team Leader

We’re looking for a resourceful, eager-to-learn, independent, and straight-shooting individual who will be responsible for the coordination of our internal team processes for the efficient execution of scheduled and requested marketing deliverables. If your dream job includes wearing lots of hats, leading a great team (8-10 contractors), working directly with clients, and keeping things organized and moving right along—this is the job for you.

Elemental Design creates ideas that spark intrigue, strategies that foster effective growth, and assets that make brands matter for companies that do good things in the world—and we want to help more companies do more good things so we need more good people. We specialize in providing transparent excellence in comprehensive marketing services. No smoke and mirrors. No shady tactics. Our customers’ success is the measure of our success. We like to move quickly, believe that anything is possible, and strive for excellence at everything we do. Our founder is located in the Santa Cruz mountains, but our team is distributed all over the country—as are our clients. We have a bit of a niche focus in construction, but also serve the hospitality, healthcare, professional services, and non-profit sectors. We are a team of selfstarters that believe strongly in personal responsibility, clear boundaries, and that there’s always room to grow and get a little better every day.

Nitty Gritty

1. Our office is completely virtual and the position is contract-based. We use Clickup, Slack, Dropbox, Harvest, Loomly, and Zoom for 99% of our workflow. Meaning, you’ll work from your home on your own equipment, you’ll need fast internet, and you’ll be a 1099 contractor rather than an employee.

2. We have good processes that have been built over the past two decades—but we are

constantly evolving and improving. We believe you’re either growing or you’re dying, so

you need to bring a love for learning and be able to follow our proven framework that

allows us to stay lean and effective for our clients.

3. The work is usually fun, fresh, and dynamic—but sometimes there are tasks which are

tedious or less-than-the-best-thing-you’ve-ever-done. You need to be willing to always

do your best at both types, even though we strive to discover and then keep folks in

their zone of genius whenever we can. You will be helping to coordinate, communicate,

and execute marketing deliverables for clients on a monthly basis.

4. We aren’t big on stress. So, while we will expect you to work efficiently and get things

done, we focus on open communication and getting things done right the first time.

5. The hours are flexible. We will work with your schedule to get a routine that works for

you, and then we’ll expect you to adhere to that so we—and the clients you will help to

support—can rely on your availability.

6. You will wear lots of hats and be expected to pinch-hit when needed. We have a team of specialists across various marketing skills—social media, content creators, copywriters, designers, illustrators, developers—but when you are keeping all the ducks in a row, we want you to be willing to quack once in a while. That’s why the desire to learn new things is key.

What will your job look like?

Responsibilities include coordinating individual team members via our online toolset to align with project deliverables and communicate status, updates, and requirements regularly. You’ll be the daily point of contact for both the team who will be looking for feedback and direction, as well as the supportive contact for the client(s) you’re assigned to in order to ensure that they feel taken care of, heard, and kept up-to-date on our progress—including reporting on performance of campaigns and ensuring that all marketing materials are in line with their brand standard. You will also directly report to our Operations Rockstar daily in an effort to keep all of the pieces moving together smoothly.

To be successful in this role, you should have knowledge of what gives a brand integrity and power, how websites are built, how print collateral is crafted, how content is written, how social media, sales and nurture campaigns, and SEO/SEM factors are executed and measured, and how each of those things fit into a successful marketing strategy...OR you should be willing and excited to dig in, get your fingernails dirty, and LEARN how. At

Elemental Design, attitude is infinitely more important than experience. Ultimately, you will help our team operate like a well-oiled machine with clarity and clear expectations while you help our clients build and maintain a strong and consistent brand message through a wide range of online and offline marketing channels.

Job Responsibilities

● Assist with new client onboarding and account management—present proposals and

schedules, coordinate meetings, communicate action items, meeting notes, follow-ups,

set and reset expectations proactively.

● Keep tabs on all projects you’re assisting with to provide feedback, fill gaps, and

communicate daily status, obstacles, and progress.

● Perform and/or oversee quality assurance and quality control—push every button, read

every word, correct every error before we present any deliverables to the client.

● Oversee client social media calendars in Loomly—while you won’t be expected to create

social media content, you may be asked to schedule it, manage interactions on the

account, and post blogs to the websites.

Job Non-Responsibilities

● NOT a copywriter. Your role is to influence high-level messaging and recommendations to keep a clear message across all marketing materials. But paying attention to details in copy matters.

● NOT a designer. You won’t need to be a Photoshop whiz or even a Canva pro. But an eye for good aesthetics and creative feedback is fantastic.

● NOT a developer. You won’t be expected to do any coding, but if you know your way

around a WordPress backend to help with posting blogs and easy edits, awesome.

● NOT a salesperson. We will bring the clients. It’s your job to make sure that what we

agree to deliver to them happens on time, on budget, and at or exceeding the quality

that we always commit to deliver.

Qualifications

1. You need to have an internal locus of control. If you’ve never heard that term, this is

your first trial run on how we encourage learning. Over the two decades of building this

business, we realize that this one is non-negotiable.

2. You need to be an effective communicator, with both written and oral correspondence, and you need to listen well and take detailed, organized notes.

3. You need to be the type of person who gets joy out of getting things done. Every day,

you will bang out a list of stuff. Fun stuff. Important stuff. Necessary stuff.

4. You need to over-communicate to your team and your manager regularly. Clarity is

critical.

5. You need to enjoy corresponding with people and giving/getting direction.

6. You need to show up.

7. You need to be a person who loves to deliver remarkable experiences to other people:

someone who feels good by making other people feel good.

8. You need to care about the details—but not get bogged down in them. You don’t need

to race through work and get things done half-baked. We need you to get things done

right. But you also need to be able to understand when you are failing the Pareto

Principle or fulfilling Parkinson’s Law and pivot appropriately.

9. Our team culture is casual, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality. We expect intelligence, energy, and a get-it-done attitude. When you have questions, you will find the answers with a quick Slack to our team. It’s your job to stay on the hunt until you

find the answers you need. In many instances, you will find yourself in the position of

“move-it-along” chair, because sometimes we all need a push in the right direction to

stay on track.

This contract tends to require approximately 20 hours of availability per week. Please include a cover letter when you apply for this position, telling us a little bit about yourself, your experience, and why you're a great fit for this role.

In addition to being a detailed person, you must follow systems and processes. In fact, just to prove that you are detail-oriented and can follow procedures, when you apply for this position, somewhere in your response you need to include the following phrase: The most important thing you can do with your life is the next thing. And for bonus points, let us know your enneagram number.

We are looking to bring our new colleague on board in the next 30 days—or tomorrow. We will spend the necessary time to train you up, get you familiar with our clients, and introduce you to our team and our culture. If you’d like to be considered for this position, please write a cover letter and let us know why you think you’re perfect for this job.
