POSITION SUMMARY:

To assist the Production Supervisor by taking charge of an operating shift and performing responsibilities of the supervisor on that shift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Reviews daily production schedule for the department to plan work and personnel assignments for the shift
• Supervises and directs personnel on shift in performing operations according to sound operating principals and company policies and procedures
• Anticipates and determines causes of delays in shift operations and takes appropriate action to meet production and shipping schedules
• Reports promptly to operations manager when delays occur, estimates time of delay and when operations will be resumed
• Prepares required forms for shift and leaves for department manager's approval
• Must be flexible and available for all shifts, even on short notice
• Acts as the back-up to the Shift Supervisor to cover for vacation time
• Performs all other duties as requested by management staff
• Must be familiar with or able to become familiar with all plant equipment
• Comply with all policies and procedures of the Corporation

REQUIREMENTS:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Must have knowledge of plant equipment and processes
• Flexibility to work various shifts is required
• Supervisory experience is preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Continuous physical activity through the work day such as climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, hearing, talking, repetitive motion and moving objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to distinguish colors and operate a forklift
• Works inside most of the time, noise above ambient levels, proximity to moving mechanical parts, potential exposure to chemicals, and possible exposure to dust
