The Talent and Culture Coordinator will work with Propeller’s Chief Operating Officer to ensure all aspects of our talent life-cycle happen at a high level, and we achieve our goals around building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization, where people of all backgrounds, particularly BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color) team members, thrive and feel valued.

We are looking for someone who loves “people work” and the systems, structures, and policies needed to have an authentically inclusive and equitable organization. This position will start out overseeing our talent acquisition practices (recruitment, hiring, and onboarding) and employee celebration and engagement strategies, using a racial equity and inclusion (REI) lens. They will be involved in supporting all aspects of Talent and Culture across the organization, and we hope this person will grow in ownership of other HR and Talent practices over time.

Major Responsibilities & Outcomes

Talent Acquisition and Onboarding

  • Develop and oversee recruitment strategies to maintain an effective and efficient hiring process
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners and prospective future team members to build strong pipelines for talent
  • Oversee a high quality and user-friendly onboarding process and experience for new hires, including processing documentation, such as I-9 verification and background checks
  • Participate in compensation analysis projects to ensure Propeller’s compensation structure remains competitive and ensure compensation philosophy is followed with fidelity

Culture and Retention

  • Plan staff celebrations, including birthdays, work anniversaries, and holiday celebrations
  • Collaborate with Chief Operating Officer to plan quarterly staff retreats and other team engagement opportunities
  • Support in employee engagement data collection and reporting efforts

Talent Management

  • Support performance management processes, including individual racial equity and inclusive work plans
  • Support development of team professional development opportunities and support team members in the development of their individual professional development plan

Compliance and Processes

  • Maintain employee files and processes paperwork according to established procedures
  • Serve as the go-to team member for information on employee benefits and support during open enrollment period
  • Support on HR compliance, providing input on policies and updating materials to ensure current policies and practices are happening in accordance with Propeller’s culture, the law, and best practice
  • Support planning compliance training as directed
  • Support on organizational process development and internal communication as directed

Travel with some evening and weekend work required. This is a salaried and exempt position.

  • A learning orientation, a track record of developing new skills, and an interest in learning all aspects of Talent, Culture, and HR practices
  • Experience working alongside Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Vietnamese-American, and other New Orleans communities demonstrated by a nuanced understanding of New Orleans unique culture and communities

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and at least 0-2 years of professional experience
  • Experience working in an organization that prioritizes racial equity, diversity, and inclusion and a strong, values-driven organization culture
