$30 - $40 an hour

This position is primarily responsible for assisting in surgical procedures, obtaining patient history, preliminary screening and work up, diagnostic testing, patient education, patient follow ups, and updating and inputting outcome analysis data.

The role of the Surgical Technologist are as follows:

  • Demonstrates ability in the areas of scrubbing and assisting in Ophthalmology and Laser procedures.
  • Standards: Demonstrates awareness, location, and working knowledge of Policies and Procedures of operation of the Surgery Center.
  • Equipment / Supplies: Demonstrates cognitive and technical skills in the assembly / use / operation / maintenance of equipment and supplies and is responsible and accountable
  • Maintains the sterile and non-sterile supplies, and instruments for the Surgery Center
  • Assures the proper handling of sterile items
  • Maintains the records of sterilization for each sterilizer
  • Understands the operation and handling of the equipment in the Central Supply
  • Processes contaminated instruments, equipment and supplies
  • Prepares instruments, equipment and supplies for sterilization
  • Sterilizes instruments, equipment and supplies in a manner appropriate for the item
  • Maintains instruments and supplies in an orderly fashion
  • Checks outdates on instruments and supplies
  • Orders supplies for the Surgery Center and/or prepares order list
  • Assists with moving patients to the recovery cart
  • Assists other members of the team with terminal cleanup of room in readiness for the next patient
  • Assists in maintenance, care and cleanliness of equipment, instruments and supplies
  • Assists in maintaining a safe environment for the patients
  • Monitors and changes sterilization chemicals
  • Observes cost containment practices with effective utilization of time and materials
  • Shares and performs assigned duties necessary for the Surgery Center operations
  • Practices medical/legal policies governing the Surgery Center at all times
  • Maintains and upgrades standards of performance and education

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Specialized training for Surgical Technologist preferred
  • Prior experience (2 yrs) as a Surgical Technologist
  • Ophthalmology experience preferred
  • Instrument processing experience required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
