Surface Combat Systems Center Technician - Senior Level Job at Boarhog LLC
Boarhog is hiring U.S. Navy senior level Surface Combat Systems Technicians within a a diverse team of technical, programmatic, and business professionals for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren Division's Combat Support Services at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island (WI) Virginia. The team provides Test and Evaluation, operational, engineering, and cybersecurity readiness as the last stop for hardware, software and Integrated Combat Systems testing prior to deployment. This is a new follow-on contract commencing January 8th of 2023 lasting until January 7th of 2028 with the incumbent contractor team.
LOCATION :
SCSC is a NAVSEA Echelon III Field Activity executing high-fidelity shipboard representative integrated warfare capabilities in a maritime environment, consisting of AEGIS Engineering & Training Complex, the Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) facility, the Wallops Island Engineering Test Center, and the Wallops Island Radar Test Site as tenants of the NASA Wallops Flight Facility.
EXPERIENCE:
All categories of experience may be accumulated concurrently. For example, if the candidate worked while going to school, the work and education time are credited concurrently.
- Six (6) years hands-on experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance for the alignment, adjustment, removal, and replacement of the U.S. Navy's AEGIS combat systems or Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) components.
- SCSC technical positions (those not designated electrical or mechanical engineer positions requiring Professional Engineer certification) on this contract have been set up for cross-training, adopting a variation of the Navy's Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) program, such that for example the Information Systems Technician is afforded opportunities to train and qualify as a Project Analyst, Audio/Visual Tech, Radar Tech, Computer Network Tech, Communications Tech, Navigation Electronics Tech, Cisco Tech, SSDS Mk2 Maintenance Tech, and Test Director. This cross-training program enables systems technicians to invest in their value to the program with a commensurate opportunity for increased compensation.
EDUCATION:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field/discipline; or 4 additional years of demonstrated experience can be substituted for a degree.
- An Associates Degree in a technical or computer related discipline could substitute for two (2) years of experience. For other relevant degrees/education, appropriate education can be counted as experience at a rate of two (2) years of education equals one (1) year of experience for up to four (4) years of experience.
CERTIFICATION:
Have or obtain within one year of onboarding a Networking training certificate or certification and Security+ certification.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Must possess a DoD SECRET security clearance.
- Preference is given to candidates who reside in a Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) as determined by the Small Business Administration (see SBA website), of which Wallops Island VA is one such location.
