This opportunity is Full-Time- Night Shift 11 pm to 7:30 am and occasional shedule weekends when needed for coverage purposes.
Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670
Nights Monday through Friday
Hours: 11 pm to 7:30 am

In this role, you will:
  • Oversee and ensure the Pre-Analytical Department remains in compliance with Federal, State, CAP, HIPAA, CLIA, and Company Policy.
  • Conduct the timely investigation and resolution of all Pre- Analytical Department errors and workplace incidents.
  • Provide support to the Pre-Analytical Department by ensuring and maintaining a safe, productive, and quality-focused work environment.
  • Carry out the supervisory functions of the Pre-Analytical and Exception Handling departments, including, but not limited to, approving bi-weekly payroll, new employee training, conducting competency assessments, coaching subordinates, and administering disciplinary action.
  • Collaborate with laboratory management team and all departments to maintain the continuous improvement of processes.
  • Optimize Pre-Analytical Department efficiency by updating and implementing new processes, procedures, and specimen requirements.
  • Conduct monthly departmental metrics, error tracking, and outreach to patients and providers regarding any issues and concerns.
  • Deliver the timely completion of departmental schedule, monitor the progress of employee development training, and submit performance appraisals that adhere to SHUSA guidelines.
  • Attend and be engaged with daily management meetings and conference calls.
  • Maintain a specimen error rate which is within acceptable standards set by SHUSA guidelines.
  • Perform daily review of pending list, promptly investigate any issues uncovered, and provide overview to reference laboratories.
  • Ensure regular meetings with all subordinate staff to facilitate communication and ensure compliance with Company Policy.
  • Participate in and support all Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement initiatives set out for the laboratory, as needed.
  • Review with and hold all subordinate staff accountable for the criteria set within their job description.
  • Maintain cohesive working relationship with Director of Operations to resolve any interdepartmental issues or improvement initiatives.
Report any workplace accidents or injuries to Safety Officer, Human Resources,
  • or President immediately.
  • Complete and ensure department completes mandatory MediaLab training modules when assigned by Safety Officer or Human Resources.
  • In addition to typical work schedule, this position requires employees to work weekends, split shifts, and holidays, as needed.
  • Other duties may apply as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Have a strong understanding of administrative and management principles.
  • Have knowledge of administrative procedures and systems including word processing, HRIS software, and other business programs.
  • Be familiar with General safety, High Risk safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and other safety initiatives.
  • Have knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and labor relations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates.
  • Possess and demonstrate exceptional customer and personal service skills.
  • Engage in active listening and critical thinking.
  • Be able to use judgment when determining decisions.
  • Have the ability to demonstrate oral and written comprehension.
  • Be customer service oriented, possess strong interpersonal skills, and maintain a positive and friendly attitude when interacting with patients, clients, or other departments.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years experience in a medical laboratory setting.
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years experience with an increasing level of responsibility and supervisory obligations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Have medical training experience including laboratory assistant, MLT or phlebotomy training.
  • Have experience with software such as Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Workday (company HRIS).
Travel:
  • Meet applicable company insurance guidelines and release Department of Motor Vehicles driving records if required to drive or operate a company vehicle in the performance of their duties. Must comply with company driving policies and procedures.
  • Participate in occasional travel to interact with Division personnel, attend meetings, or participate in educational training, as needed.
Physical Demands:
  • Have the ability to require lifting and carrying objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Be able to reach, stoop/bend, kneel/crouch, push/pull, and walk.
  • Engage in moderate to frequent computer work.
  • Engage in moderate to frequent use of telephone and fax.
Base Salary: $28.22 to $52.36 hourly D.O.E.
