VTF Excavation, LLC is a heavy highway, mainline utility, building site, and bridge construction company seeking an Assistant Superintendent of Utility Construction.

Candidates must have at least 5+ years of experience with general civil utility and highway construction including but not limited to sanitary, water, storm pipe, lift stations, roadway construction, utilities, etc. Candidates must be self-motivated and willing to travel daily.

Essential responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Manage field operations as well as assist in coordinating work with the Superintendent of Construction and subcontractors.
  • Manage projects and scopes as assigned by the Superintendent of Construction.
  • Work with project manager and owner’s representative to communicate progress of project.
  • Prepare detailed takeoffs, preliminary estimates and or budgets for ongoing changes.
  • Maintain project documentation.
  • Investigate adverse situations and report to PM and/or Superintendent of Construction.
  • Maintain detailed tracking of materials needed, onsite and forthcoming demands.
  • Represent company in project meetings, when required.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining project costs with PM and Superintendent.
  • Obey, enforce, and follow all safety rules on the job site and ensures others to do the same.
  • Able to maintain relationships both internally, with subcontractors, and with owners’ representatives to complete projects.
  • Assist with field personnel, daily/weekly schedules, and construction operations
  • Assist in On-the-Job training.
  • Coordinate equipment and crews and other job-related activities.
  • Meet, coordinate, and maintain exemplary relationships with public and or owners throughout project.
  • The potential exists to work with crews to operate, assemble, install equipment and materials onsite when demands require.

EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • Must present proven record of managing as supervisor or lead on multi-faceted projects in utility construction.
  • Must show proven results of active participation in problem solving.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing utility construction crew.
  • OSHA/MSHA other safety certifications a plus.
  • HCSS suite of software products highly desired.
  • Lift station and boring construction knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to help plan and manage construction activities for multiple crews based off project plans, understand project schedules, and provided cost data.
  • Ability to supervise Foreman, set / communicate goals, and explain plans.
  • Ability to manage cost and production of construction projects daily.
  • Basic computer skills; Microsoft Excel, Outlook, tablets, and laser operations.
  • Physical demands of this position include lifting to fifty pounds occasionally; as well as work as crew member, grasping and reaching, occasional climbing and walking.
  • Must be able to work outdoors and travel daily as needed. Limited to rare overnights.
  • General knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, dozers, loaders, etc.
  • Clear Drug screen and physical check for successful candidates.
